I think your on the right track Erus.... I like what your doing and even though you might be "strong-arming" a bit, sometimes this is what needs to be done.

To all others: I think Erus is just trying to make things smooth. He is asking for Admin hands to hand out rewards that WILL ULTIMATELY CHANGE THE SITE!!! He is just trying to have us shape the future of the site but not make it crazy. If I were to hand out rep like candy, why have rep?

i think having compititions where everyone paints or converts the same model is a bit boring, no matter what the same model is. seeing a dozen or so ork warboss' or nids or whatever may have a chance of having the same scheme is highly likely, im not saying everyones will be the same but still......

Well as far I'm concerned with Ikarus working on a Quiz System after his exams theres a fair chance that the Quiz Competition will end up being the March contest or I might have misunderstood the 'Fluff Competition' and that particular category has nothing to do with the Quiz.

Hmmm....I believe I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion...carry on with your day people there may in fact be no cause for alarm...

If you want, the quiz would fit nicely in March, if you think you can get 'er rollin by then. In fact, given the fluff comp is very close to that, it'd be a perfect month!

The painting comp was never devised to be voted for a straight 1st, 2nd 3rd place.

We have clear areas to be marked out of 10.

* Colour (how well the colours work to enhance the miniature)
* Base (How well the base contributes to the overall miniature
* Atmosphere (marks are awarded according to how well the miniature fits into it's respective fluff)
* Technique (how well advanced techniques are implemented)
* Overall Skill (marked on how the miniature looks overall)

I think it is bang out of order to start picking holes in the comp now as it has just started when the rules have been around for 2 months now, nobody, not even yourself has said anything about it. For what reason do we need a panel, do you not trust I can see if anything or anyone is cheating? And as for the rep points not any of the admins has said anything against them and have hand plenty of time to do so and I would have had no problem changing it.

I really dont understand why anyone would complain about a voting system and I urg them to come forward and explain why it is so unfair.

the main reason i think they were complaining is because i got lazy and with so few people participating i just crunched the voting system for the conversion comp down and made it simpler for me and them

Sorry... Just the same as you see no problem with how the competition is run.. What does making a standard voting card and adding 3 judges do to your comp, really? That's all that is happening here Mart! The panel isn't there because we think you couldn't see cheating. I've told you why it is there, but i'll nab you on MSN to explain again.

All we're really adding is three more score cards to the mix.

This is one of the reason some of the complaints surfaced. So, we standardized the comps in ALL AREAS, rather than just one. It's not done to target the painting competition specifically. It's done just so that when all is said and done, no one has any grounds to try and knock all yours and other peoples hard work Mart. That's all, really.

I think Munkey joe was onto something with the single mini/ same minI thing. You could use this system for GW events or even a mini-comp.

I say this for two reasons:
1) With the system devised as he put it together, money comes into 40K terra via Ikky for supplies. This regulates the amount spent by the members to buy the stock mini and gets money inot 40K terra's account thus enabling us to get more/better features in the future. Think of it a acontest with a long term investment.
2) Though it limits the playing field or may be considered boring for some, a conversion contest using a single model as a base would be a good thing. It lets creatitivty spread allowing for many conversions to be made on the stock mini and lettig us get to know a little about how everyone thinks. It actually gives all the potential contestants for more advanced competitions a little room to study the competition and see what they are up against.

With that said, a competition devised on a singl mini could be run when a new/edited race gets a codex or a new model range, maybe even when a new supplement is released, or even as a little tie in to GW global campaign. Use a model from that range as the base model and allow the entrants to convert it as they see fit. Sure you'll end up with 30 Warbosses, but it would be thirty differnt warbosses! Each as unique as the entrant who put it together, labored to paint it, and took the time to enter it. It may be a little simple for a contest, but for many it's still just as fun.

chances are there will be similar paint schemes with that and after awhile it will all looks the same, granted a all ork themed comp would be cool, but the same model?

Thats fair enough Erus. (we just spoke on MSN so to fill you in) The painting comp remains the same as it is under way and would be silly to change it now. But from now on after this all comps will follow a standardised format - which is fair enough. I have decided however not to enter this painting comp, as I will be verifing the scores and it just seems right!

My point is, if you sign up for a conversion/painting competition you were most likely going to do a conversion/paint a mini anyway.


Also, high quality painted minis or conversions bring rep regardless :/

There shouldn't be... But I can tell you this right now... You couldn't post it in the competition forums.. For they are for official competitions.. And anywhere else would be placed inapprpriately...

Long and short of it is... Just stick to the official ones for chrissake.
