Blog Entries: 4 | OK this is an open thread for ANYONE to suggest their ideas for competitions-be they painting/conversion/building. You can also suggest possible criteria for things to be judged on. Or maybe you have an idea on how the cycle of competitions should be organised! Please keep suggestions simple and realistic (build a life size Gargant may have to wait Im afraid)! PLEASE READ ALL THE POSTS TO PREVENT DUPLICATE IDEAS!! Ill start the ball rolling Fixed Model-Every entrant has to enter the same model-unmodded and on a plain base. Blog Entries: 4 | Themed conversion - each entrant has to model under the same theme i.e (heavy bolter marine, ork warboss, marine in iron armor...) Themed painting - similar to above Another option, as pert posted would be to label each conversion free, limited or stock, as in free for all conversion, limited conversion, or using only stock parts (no PC or GS).

Blog Entries: 1 | The problem with all this, is that we could be on danger of over complicating things. All you need is some extra awards open outside the top 3 that people can aim for, ie best base, best colour sheme. This gives other people who are not the sites best painters can focus on winning something. I myself would not put myself in the top painters on the site, but I would hate to have to enter a "baby" comp, everyone should be in the same comp, but focus should be on extra awards for a bit of motivation. Also we dont want to be running these to regularly as the comps will get stale. The reason we got so many entries in this and what looks like the painting comp is to give people plenty of time to think and make. I think we should be giving at least 6 months before the next lot. IMO

| Corporal ![]() | Agreed Mart. I'm not going to be doing a conversion every 3 months. (I've just thought up my next entry though... Man I want there to be another comp NOW! )

There was never a suggestion that we would do all of these-it is merely a place for people to air their ideas for competitions instead of filing other threads! Also when we may need ideas we can look here. As for the "first timers" it is not suggested as a baby competition-merely a chance for those who have never entered a painting competition before! | |

Blog Entries: 1 | lol, I reckon there's going to be some determined entries next time! I'm just proud to be part of a forum with so many people who know what there doing!! I know what your saying Pert but I think most people on this comp at least wanted to go up against the best on the site. My suggestion is as above but maybe add some more catorgaries. But even then I would prefer to keep things as simple and as open as pos. *EDIT* You've been here long enough to know we can edit posts... calls Erus to beat with the stick.

| The Witchhunter ![]() | what about a scenery making competition - you set a theme and then judge entries in a similar format to that already - i.e. only entrants get a vote. you can set restrictions such as 80% of the model must be household goods so that you don't get some that can afford CoD stuff making a superb version of that kit and those that cannot afford them being restricted to coke cans and pipe cleaners |

Blog Entries: 4 | Hmmm, we could also run a VDR contest (for smaller things like skimmers, medium tanks and walkers) where the admins pick a VDR and the entrants must build it. Best interpretation wins.

Blog Entries: 4 | It can't be one of the entrants' designs though... So I can post a thread to gauge interest but we'll need a time-frame and a way of picking the design. Also, the entrants should not know what the design is until at least one day before the contest officially begins.

Blog Entries: 1 | I'd have a chat with Steve about this one, tho I reckon he will want to enter. The only thing that may hurt this comp is people having to buy stuff thats not maybe for there army. I would probably (to get more people involved) is to make sure the VDR was something for Space Marines. Make sure you dont use loads of expensive parts either. imo.

Blog Entries: 4 | Keeping it SM is fine. There are no requirements as for parts, or materials to be used. Put together a VDR sheet detailing the weapons, armour value, size and speed and we hand this to the entrants at the beginning of the contest, just to keep things interesting... How they get to the end product is up to them. As an added incentive, we could always say that the conversion has to be based on a certain chassis (rhino, landraider, leman russ, chimera...). probably rhino for the first case.

Blog Entries: 2 | PEOPLE!! What we need is to settle the schedule for the near future ![]() Some want a terrain comp in march, others want another conversion comp that month ![]()

| Hairy Hunter ![]() | Wakim - Terrain comp was suggested for April, not March. It's also in the discussion stage. It's not set. However, re-deploying another conversion comp within a month of the last completing (IMHO) will take away the specialness of the competition. We need to keep them well spaced. I agree we need a schedule of the events though.

Blog Entries: 1 | How about best VDR design? Armoured vehicle (painting and conversion) both light, medium, and superheavy? Maybe a fluff competition?

| The Munkey Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think we're on to something with the themed entry thing. Like a "Ultramarine vs Ork battle" where a contestant has to model a scene (mini diorama) from a made up battle (look to the fiction thread here!!!). Also as Pert mentioned a "paint a (XXinsert miniXX) competion is a GREAT idea. Sometime in the near future I would host it, and have a mini for all who entered. IE I have 45 of the same mini. Each contestant donated $ (X).00 to the site (for shipping) and recieves a Official 40K terra entry model. They would then paint the model and submit to the panel. This way no one is ahead of any other contestant and EVERYONE gets a mini for a nominal fee Just for being a participant!!! I'll discuss any questions from the Primarchs, Staff, or Emperor on this. I think we need to be careful not to impede on the painting and conversion competition as we dont want to make them less special. I think a fluff competition is definately a requirement!!! If we have had painting, converting, terrain and fluff, and maybe a knowledge comp we have all areas covered. These comps could be run at different times and once a year. But because there are a lot so we have something going on most of the year.

Blog Entries: 1 | As with the smaller comps they can be more specailised so less people would enter, but would be nice. We could even encourage little "pop" contests like, build a strategem marker or something.
