Official 40kTerra Monthly Competition Schedule

January- Open Conversion Competition (Termie Base Size limit) - Take you favorite bits, your best knife, a wad of GS and go at it!

February - Open Painting Competition - Paint pots open, brushes ready and water clean! Lets see those bare plastic boyos become masterpieces!

March - Rotating (yearly) small terrain piece/feature. Exact limits TBA.

April - Squad Painting Competition: Take that extra squad of Dire Avengers or those old metal Chaos Marines and paint 'em up!

May - Paint and Convert: Convert and paint a singular model in one month.. A true test of skills and endurance.

June- Vehicle Painting Comp: Get that rhino looking looking sleek.. get the red to make that warbuggy go fasta! (Note: Size limit likely TBA)

July - Terrain Competition: Large scale competition.. Buildings, ruins, bunkers, etc..

August - Monstrous Creature/Dreadnought/Walker style conversion competition. For daemon princes, sentinels, and the like!

September - VDR/Scratchbuild Competition: Create and make a Warmachine of the 41st millennium.

October - Terranaeus Praetor Forum Chapter drive. Details TBA.

November - Fluff Competition. Details TBA.

December - The Scholam: a series of 4 mini one week projects all centering around a single model, designed to help new hobbyist learn and grasp new skills.

weve been waiting for an "official" schedule for a while
but the schedule doesnt really make that much sense
the previous comps dont match up with what happend already
(the conversion contest didnt have size limit and the fluff comp just finished)
and the decmber comp is for what?
dont we already do that with the weekend challenges
with the different technique challenges?
just wondering

best/most plausible army background OR a short story, it doesn't necessarily have to revolve around a quiz (though I would like to do another one of those before the end of the year).

the december contest does indeed look cool, it's definitely nice to have a fully defined schedule.

as soon as i save up enough money to actually BUY models again lol i'll be joining in :]

Dang I should've procrastinated on my Super Heavy Mortar till the VDR comp... but lucky for you all I have a couple more VDR tanks I can keep puttign off till then. June's vehicle comp will be cool as well.

Granted, the schedule may not match up perfectly to what WAS done... But, it was written in light of some issues and ideas gleaned from reflecting on that and thinking of what could be done better. The first try ain't always right, as we all know.

The conversion contest did indeed have a size limit. It was just laxed and pretty much shattered in some respects, lol. However, it was, before I left staff, the goal to stick to the rules rather than bending them on a whim for a user.

The fluff comp was a quiz, and ideally Baron and I had talked about concurrent things, both a quiz and a fiction bit, so there was a bit of each aspect of 'fluff' for all. Since, fluff is perhaps more broadspread and separated than almost any other aspect. I know some people who can quote passages from 40k books, but couldn't write to save their lives. Did you notice the 'details TBA' bit, meaning the details were being ironed out?

In addition, the weekend comps focus on random acts of the hobby. For the Scholam, we'd do something more like.. converting, painting, basing, and the 4th area was going to be atmosphere, but I was thinking of dropping that and leaving a week open for feedback, advice, etc.. People like our young Marcus, whose talent is growing quickly, could get active feed back on a single model, and get what amounts to a single, intense session of advice that would help him improve his basic talents enough that he feels good enough that maybe he tries some sculpting, or that daring bit of kitbashing he might be hesitating on. It's designed to help give the next gen of modelers that next step up. Something I always toted and was immensely proud of Terra for in the past.

However, i'm not admin anymore. So this 'official' schedule may not even be 'official' anymore. Maybe you can write one though man. I appreciate the critiques, however, especially when something says 'details TBA'... Maybe hold back on th ever present suggestions...

But, enough of my bitter venom. Steve, use the schedule as you see fit, and if you need to reach me for advice or questions, you have my contacts.

I don't get it. What's a "singular model"? If you just mean a single model, I'm not sure what the test of endurance is.

Can we combine these competitions with the TOXG?

I don't see an issue with combining your tale of the X gamers with the comps.
A single mini is any single mini mounted on a termie sized base. It can be bigger, just as long as it isn't a vehecle/Dred or such like. If your bothered about an entry ask me, Steve or ID. We are not overly strict, as long as what your doing fits in with the spirit of the comp, most things are fine..

..The endurance is the long hours on prepping a mini from start to finish.
