Default Col Schaeffer + 5 Chimera's?

Codex reads: Any sub-unit may be mounted in a chimera transport at 70 pts.

Does this mean that if I split a 22 man unit (col, Kage and 20 LC's) into 5 sub-units I can give each of those units a separate Chimera?

yes it does! just keep in mind though that the last chancers are still just guardsmen, so a smaller unit size means it's that much harder for them to be as effective as casulties will still mount rather quickly...

cheers!

Yeah, but it is still a viable option, if you are going to run a mechanized force, there is no better way that I see it. The ability to get 5 Chimeras, with a few "Chancer's" backing them up with BS4 anti-armor shooters is great. All you need is a regular command squad in a chimera, grenadier's doctrine, 3 grenadier squads, you have yourself 2 HQ's and 4 Troop Choices. It is only 57 men at the most, but that is 9 Chimera's.

Using Army Builder, I just wrote up a list

HQ- Platoon, Basic w/Chimera
Last Chancers w/5 Chimera's
----Last Chancers 4 Lascannons, 7 Snipers

Troops-
3x 6man Grenadier Squads w/ Chimera's

Fast Attack

1x 2 sentinel squadrons w/ Lascannon
2x 1 sentinel squadron w/ Autocannon

Hvy Support

3x Basilisk's w/indirect fire

All Chimera's have Extra Armor, Smoke, Hvy Stubber, Track Guards, Multi-laser, Hull HB.

9 Chimera's
4 Sentinel's
3 Basilisk's

All under 2500. If i had the Chimera's I would run it at Ard'boyz.

I think just the sheer amount of fire power that these come to bear would be overwhelming. Granted they 2-3 could get taken down a turn, but if you can get them to all focus fire on one unit, that unit would be wiped off. I think just 3 Chimeras shooting 1 HB, 1 Multi-laser, and 1 Hvy Stubber a turn at one unit could cause quite a bit of devastation.

true enough, but factor in that your mst likely opponents will be marines, loyal or chaos. Take your BS3 causing only 50% chance of hitting, then consider that only 1/3 of shots fired (heavy bolters) actually ave a chance of taking down a space marine - as long as they've wounded.

I wouldn't be surprised if it took at least five, probably more Chimeras to bring down a ten man squad of marines.

If you actually make this army - good luck with it what with the number of men you'll have jumping from exploding transports.

one point I would make is you may find this army to be usefull against horde armies like nids because the manuverability of the chimeras will offset the fleet of foor of units like genestealers. just a thought

how do the lasguns on the hull work? Do they still require Line of Sight? If so, then you could never have more than 3 hull lasguns shooting at once.

the codex just says that up to three can shoot at once ewhich means that the rear of the tank must be facing the enimy to use them and only they and the turret can fire
