| So I have a very poorly painted IG army developing (namely because I dont get the chance to much.) and will be looking for advice. More or less start a log of my progress. along with fluff that I have written for the army. Either way I wouldn't mind some feed back to want to start painting (did I mention that I'm trying to go back over all the models, minus tanks, to give them some clean up? oops no I didnt...) so yea thanks. |

| I will by the by I recognize ya baron from warseer! I'll post some stuff but first I have to warn I've been told I make huge mistakes and the like. I'm not masterclass so... by the way is there any forum bit that logs are posted or will here do fine? baron if you read my past log on this then you've most likely already read the fluff story I was writing for. |

| Kriegsmeister ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you'll be running a WIP put it in the WIP section but fluff and army lists and anything imperial guard can go here I believe. If not the mods will take care of it. But ya I've moved here from warseer.

| High Lord of Terra ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree with BvL. If you are up to the chalenge, than a WiP (work in progress) Blog is the way to go. Check it out in the Painting, converting, modeling, and senery section and you will see it there. I think you will find most of our members are kind and may tease here and there, but for the most part we will help you in any way we can. If you do get offended by anything we suggest just let us know and the whips and sticks will be brought forth to punish us all. My two cents, Servo |

Blog Entries: 1 | yeah we're a really helpful bunch when it comes to WIP threads, the promise of pretty pic is enough to have us coming out of the woodwork as mr.von lexus mentioned there's a developers wip blog section in the painting modelling and scenery area of the boards. you can open a new thread there or i could move this thread to that section if you prefer. let me know.

| Corporal ![]() | well I am not going to give a lot before I see the actual pics but some common mistakes people I know have made are. painting in order like painting the model from the bottom up inapproprate inks no order basing late lets go from the top when painting minis I find it easiest to paint from the deepest point of the model out. for a cadian this means paint the face then hands then uniform then boots then impearial cimbols and vox and gun. this makes it easy to get all the details in the model brfore working on the next piece. it is easier to paint a helmet without touching the face than visa versa. use a ink that is one or two shades darker than the color you are inking. this gives close to the dry brushing look with litterally 10% of the effort. so camo green base catachin green ink. they do not make that ink so delute the paint in water by dipping the brush in the paint then the water knocking off the excess paint and more water and then dip the brush on a napkin more water and apply to model dry the brush and brush off the excess water paint from the model. all you should be left with is paint in the groves which makes the lighter color POP out at you. the one exception to this is that most shades of grey work best with a chaos black wash and white looks best washed with codex grey unless the primary color of the army is blue then I would use shadow grey over white. paint everything the same color. lasguns all look the same in the srmy every ones base armour is the same color. anything else looks tacky ( my oppinion ) if you are going to do up the bases ( highly recomended ) do it before the models are on it. I just got this idea myelf and it takes some practice not to frost the mini but it is so worth it. It comes out a LOT better. pics would help more if this is not helpful. hard to say what the problem is with the painting without seeing the painting. hope this helped

Thanks for the show of support and advice. lynxrpken: thanks I didnt think of the inking bit... I'll make sure to try it out once I get a paint station set up at my girl friends house. But I am open to suggestions and jokes open criticism aint welcome on my behalf mainly because I am fully aware that I'm not an amazing painter. ANywyas thanks all I'll start with some fluff on a seperate article. |
