| well, granted it makes perfect sense that eilte troops like grenadiers and strom troopers *should* have some kind of night vision, but again, it falls into the 'you can't have everything' bracket! if you really want night vision, then you can always get the nightsiders abhuman doctrine, or else for friendly games, just hammer something out with your opponent like say, 'the entire unit can have night vision equipment for +x pts'! anyways though, i personally find that if i ever use things like acute senses/night vision i always roll even worse on the re-roll than i did on the first roll!!! (never doubt the power of murphy's luck!) still though, there's nothing stoping you from modeling night vision goggles and such onto some of your troops (i find cutting a rectangle around the little dials near the trigger of the plastic catachan flamer makes a great set of goggles! just file them down a bit.)cheers!

Blog Entries: 1 | has anyone actually played a game under night fighting rules? iirc theres only 1 scenario in the book that uses night fighting, other than dusk and dawn which only affects 1-2 turns of the game. kinda makes night vision skill a bit pointless. |

Blog Entries: 1 | Yes. Night Fighting's a challenging rule, and it forces you to think more about your tactics. As for the question, as stitch said, you can't have everything.

| I assume Kasrkin have night vision magnoculars but they can't really be strapped onto ones head can they? Oh, and while tech given to the IG is lame compared to that available to the Space Marines, 40k tech is way more advanced than modern day technology!

Blog Entries: 1 | Indeed. They travel through space, and 'sub-space', I mean, it takes us hours to go from Glasgow to, say, Birmingham! Plus, they use laser powered weapons. Anyway, BOT.

| Conscript ![]() | none of which (the imperium of man, at least) can make from scratch. all the stuff you mentioned would be lost to humanity if it wasnt for stcs. also. if the rules are anything to go (which i know theyre not), targeters are almost unknown of, especially regarding vehicles. |

| No they're not, it's just that that particular tech is given to Space Marines and Forces of the Inquisition (Read Imperial Armour 2: Space Marines and Forces of the Inquisition) who have multi spectral targetors and more advanced logis engines etc in their vehicles. The most advanced Tanks that the IG have are Baneblades and Shadowswords (which has targeting systems) and their respective field workshop conversions.

| BS5 on a Tank would over power it too much! I know I'd rather have BS5 Twin-Linked Lascannons on a Land Raider than BS3/BS4 Railgun! Can you imagine the damage that a BS5 Volcano Cannon could do?! ![]()

| Conscript ![]() | thats the point of having a targeter - to make sure you hit. i also know it would make the weapon too good. but i do think that modern day physicists and engineers are a lot more knowlegeble that their equivalnts in the Imperium, which would be screwed without STCs - they wouldnt be able to make anything otherwise. even a lowly rhino is beyond their powers to make. Of course alien races like eldar and tau are a different matter (then again we have railguns nowadsays and the imperium does not). |

Blog Entries: 4 | Back to the original question... Don't forget that (despite what you read in Gaunt novels etc) you're average guardsman is not treated or equipped very well (beyond basic kitting) specialist equipment is reserved for officers and commanders - think of the old military where only the officer got the map and compass, if they had any NVG capability its likely only the Sgt would have access

As for nightvision stuff, well, I'll say this, Space Marines don't have it, which, using your logical is totally retarted, Space Marine powerarmor is totally aswome (I want a suit ).And as for STCs, actually a Tech Priest/Marine can make a Rhino from Memory. STCs no longer existest, if they did the Imperium would have better tech than even the Tau, easily.

Nope. They don't, no special rule for night-fighting, which, come to think of it, is, really, really, strange.

Blog Entries: 1 | in the fluff for power it says that it has a full kit of auto senses and targeters and stuff but it would make them a bit overpowered in the game. as for STCs, there ins't a working system anywhere in the imperium. all thats left is printouts and data storage devices containing a few blueprints. |

I dont play nightfight i was just thinking. |

Blog Entries: 4 | I know where youre coming from, perhaps they do have them but like the Marines Auto Senses they confer no in game benefit?Or they just arent very good-think the cheap ones you can get off the net, very grainy and with no depth or field of vision?
