Default GUARD Tourny HELP!!!!!

Okay Guys this is a call of DUTY!


I have a quick inquiry for you all.

In the upcoming tourny it is called a Gladiator. Which means NO HOLDS BAR

Basicly I am going to include a Baneblade (Obviously)

The question is

should I spend points to invest in a Enginseer with 4 Tech Marines in order to repair the Baneblade, because its obviously going to take some hits (some is just a minor thought lol) all mounted in a Chimera for Max. mobility.

OR given the Guard Ideal I was going to spend the points to use towards two special weapon squads both with 2 flamers and 1 demo charge.

These squads would deep strike and prove to be a great tactical advantage!

The idea is defense against offense which would you choose?

well im an offensive person, in game play and comments. but with gaurd your supposed to have throw away units like these special weapons squads, who die immediatly after they do damage. i feel that this is a good way to play em. an enginseer is i think a waste of points in a gaurd army. they'll get blown to bits like everything else. i say go offensive

Don't do the Enginseer. Chances are your opponent will throuw everything they have at teh Baneblade and the resulting explosion would probably kill the seer anyway. Also the Seer can't disembark and then repair, meaning you pretty much have to have himin B2B to the Baneblade from the beginning.

The deepstriking Demo sure sounds fun, haven't tried that one... will now though!

How much other armor are you bringing? The more Armor you have the less shots will be fired at your Baneblade as they try and lessen your force as a whole. Give them a few High Priority targets to choose from... but I'm sure you already know that!

well like has been said you'll have 2 or 3 turns before it gets blown to heck so if it was me ide flank it with hvy weapons to provide support fire with autocannons lascannons if you think you'll be facing a lot of marine or sisters. autocannons worg great for this agressive defence because they fire more rounds great range and against tao nids and even other gaurd ap dosent matter.



now if it was me i would scrap this tank all togeather for two russes for almost the same cost you get two tanks and support for them

Oh yea I totally am running two russes as well! So I figured they would be a hard choice for an enemy to pick from besides the Baneblade

i like the sound of the demo charge units, i use them a lot and let me tell you this... the first time you see a unit of termies dissappear after a 45pt squad lobs an oversized grenade at them you'll want to take a demo charge to every game!
