Well here is my guy pre primer, havnt got a story to him yet, ill develop that during painting,

well heres this evenings progress, blocked out the metallics and iv done some work on inner lining of his coat

some more pics from day 2, iv got alot of the actual colours down and mostly done, ill go back over once the whole thing is done and work on them some more, one thing ill say is that am not happy with the face, having the book their makes it awkward to paint :'(

well this is my mini mostly finished, unfortunatly i couldnt spend too much time on him as iv got demon projects to finish, but knowing me after seeing the pics i wont be able to resist coming back to do some touch ups...

My only complaint is the power fist.. The skulls, the wires, hoseing, etc.. It's all the same color. None of the studs are given much attention, and the little segements that make the fingers need more defining touches put to them.

An ace mini, except the power fist, imho.

I agree erus, their are details on the power fist which prob should have been picked out, theirs a pretty good chance ill go back and pick em out before the end of the month, unfortunately u cant really see the more subtle washes on the fist, i find that the contrast needs to be fairly harsh on metallics before a camera will be pick em up properly, take the shin guards for instance, i know theirs 4 other colours on their but i just cant see em

i actually really like the dull tarnished look of the power fist, it kinda gives the impression that he gets a lot of use out of it. unless his left hand is gloved i think you might have missed a bit dark messiah

good work. i like the highlighting on his coat, i never could do black but i see you can, excellently. it is definitely a heroic base as well.

thanks for the comments guys, having another look at the pics and the minis, i think am gunna demote this back to a WIP, theirs stuff i need to touch up, i can see alot of white spots on the base and some other stuff so ill go back over it in a week or so...

@hairy - his left hand is a leather glove, i didnt want to disrupt the dark colours their so i kepy it black rather than pink

@qwerty, tbh black isnt all that hard to do, its a case of codex grey then fortress grey, the hard thing is the placement. The coat is painted dark grey instead of black, the highlights are then placed inside the folds of the cloak (the part that would receive the most light) instead of the tip, then i painted black above it, in the recess to emphasis the fold. its the same idea as the scratches on the book and holster, just on a larger scale

Gritz and his Platoon was summoned to fend off the surprise attack from the second Ork wagh! He was then trapped in the Hades Hive city. He fought alongside Commissar Yarrick and for his bravery he was presented with Yarrick's personal copy of the ancient holy text of the Legio Diviticus. He then inspired his Platoon to great feats of heroism playing a part in fending off the Orks from the cities walls... He died soon after the battle, suffering several mortal wounds but fighting on until the end

Now that, I like much better... It's not perfect, but it's a damned nice piece and you have my compliments. + rep to you sirrah.
