I kinda have to side with Nano.. The cloak is not all that impressive. It was looking good until then. Probably better than I can do (given i've never tried cloth).. The shoulder bits are definitely off, there is little to no realistic or natural 'hang' to the fabric itself, and other than having the vague shape down.... It could use some TLC

The rest of the mini is on par with your other work and good as usual.

i'll just say that cloaks are one of the hardest things i've ever tried doing with GS, and them [along with pretty much anything fabric-y] are terribly difficult to master. tabards, cloaks, script, etc. none of it comes easy.

I know what you mean, unfortunately, with the model supposed to be in motion and so forth, and having to blow in the same damned direction the tabard ended up sticking, I'm slightly lost as to how to change it. I'll see what I can do though. being constrained by the back-pack it can only be movable from the waist down, so I'll see if I can start there.

I dunno.. Having the cape over the backpack would look kinda off... Would make em look like a hunchback or something.

Maybe have the cape draped over one shoulder or something?..

I was thinking that too, but whats the fluff on covering the vents? Its been riped off and is being re-imagined BTW. I could just give him another tabard type thing at the back, I guess, complete the loincloth look.

righto, not much of an update, cloak is currently gone and I've been messing with some personal heraldry, not sure what I'll have for the chapter symbol yet...

i think he looks really good without the cloak to, you don't necessarily have to put it back on. WOW your GS work is incredible. :] cheers !

I would recommend GS a false metal 'triangle/tip' bit on the strips to help make them stand out more. Shouldn't be too hard for your skills.

ok, still trying to pin down chapter heraldry, but I need help deciding which back-pack to give him. I'm thinking one of the devastator packs (properly trimmed) but which one eludes me.

any ideas?

not too sure about the ace of spades thing, the skull looks a little off center, but the other shoulder is most impressive!

I know what you mean. Its easy enough to reposition the skull but I'm almost tempted to redo the Spade straight onto the shoulderpad without the surrounding 'card'.

I prefer the ace, it needs a little smoothing but is a lot better. I much prefer it without the cloak now. He is really good. I woudnt add anything else now, just tidy him I reckon.

I hope your entering this bad boy into the painting comp as well!!!!!

Yes, I will be. I'll be throwing in a few equipment pouches and sticking a helmet to his belt, and tidying up his feet a little but that should be it.
