  |  Munkey joes April Paint a squad WIP!! OK well Day one is officially 2 April and this is the start of my WIP for the Assault squad Battling Steve's Armor company right now on the battlefield. This is just a quickly squad to procrastinate my Ratling painting another month as that's what I'm doing in my "Tale of so many Gamers" thread. History: **Real history- This is a squad made to deal with Steve's armor company and to assault Armor fist squads he was going to take. Well Steve did not take any dismounts (good for him because I was ready!!) so they hang out as a QRF (Quick Reaction Force) for my Devs and to serve as a buffer for any tanks that happen by. The name Monachus Chapter was given by the Custode of the Battle Baron Spikey and means "monkey" chapter in Latin! The colors are inspired by the "cymbal monkey" clapper toys and is supposed to be a joke/parody just for fun!! this is more than likely the only squad painted for this army as I want it to be a imaginary army that is fielded as my BF40K SM army. quicky comps and such will be the only time i add or do anything to the chapter. sorry guys not another army to start! **Fluff History- The Monachus Chapter has a proud warrior tradition as they are the Gene seed of one of the original founding chapters, the White Scars. The current Chapter Master, Kubilai was himself a Champion in the white scars many times over. He was honored for his many thousands years of service to continue his duty as the Chapter Master of the new founded Monachus Chapter. Chapter colors are dark Brown representing the mud of battle with a yellow gold breastplate to resemble the shining spirit of the emperor on his golden throne close to your heart. Trim color is blood red to represent the true blood of the founding Chapter, and Light Brown faceplate to symbolize the watchers So the founding began and recruitment started for the White Scar successor chapter. Building the ranks of the great companies has been difficult and long but the chapter has now founded the second company, Swif****ch, and they are to be tried in fire of Nurgle traitors. The traitor are once humans fighting with the once champion of the Death Guard chapter Typhus. Now swearing allegiance to Nurgle they are attempting to overrun an asteroid that was home to INQ researchers. The Monachus chapter heard the beacon for help and swiftly assembled a contact detachment to assist the researchers and drive the Nurgle traitors away. Recruits from the freshly founded 2nd company were hand picked to test their worth in battle and are being led by Brother Captain Jengnus. Click my siggy to help them conquer the Plauge traitors!!! Now I want to do something with the bases to match this battle with Steve as it is their first battle. I am thinking something like this:  The base will be covered in Sculpty and then I will set out Making craters with odds and ends around the house and texture with a toothbrush. have yet to start but it should turn out good. Pics will follow later this week (day or 2 or so) and then i will set out for the paint!! I am a little late for piccys now as I have been working on more "pressing" projects for other people.

Anyway Insomnia is a nightmare, and I dont mean ID either. Well maybe but not in THIS case! I cant sleep so I sent out assembleing the squad. I tacked them to the bases in a rough guess where they would be. I posed the SGT in a classic "follow me" stance and made the rest of the squad look as they were moving out into attack formation instead of patrol wedge. I didnot notice until AFTER I picced them that the teams were almost EXACT mirrors of each other. Oh well they will have to stay like that as they were assembled with styrene glue. no moving them now!!! so with any further ado...

I have been working on other issues both 40K (Bunker WIP to post tonight!) and real life (Working a LACK of pay issue with the Army for 70 days now!!!  ). Anyway I have done work with the base and display and am working on paint for the squad tonight. here are the base and display piccys:cardboard spacer for the bases:  Sculpty for the base:  and a vauge image of what it will look like.....Not the tank im using!
