hello all. i realize that i haven't really done anything at all for the last few months in terms of painting or modelling, partly for a lack of money but mostly for a lack of time, design school has REALLY been killing me, mentally, physically, heck, probably even spiritually or something lol

so i figure a turn of events might help me out of that rut. this summer i'll hopefully have some good money tucked away, which will help me with buying and painting this army:
the 1000 point pelossan mech merchants

please, feel free to critique the list as well because this is probably my first IG army list, so take a look, tell me what you do and don't like please !

the modelling idea is for conscripts to use the current cadian shock troop models, while normal infantry use the previously announced new IG models hopefully. if the new boxes come in time, i'll convert every model to fit the pelossan mech merchant's fluff [dress and color wise, etc.] but if the new models don't come out before the end of the year, then i'll have to figure something else out.

welcome to the emperor's holy meatshield! er, i mean the glorious imperial guard!

the list looks quite good; lots of bodies, good chimera loadouts... however, i'd tool-up those command squads a bit more. why take just 1 melta when you can take 2 or 3 more?!!
also, your HQ squad should swap 1 melta for a vet w/company banner. re-rolls to the rescue!
i'd finally either up your senior officer to a heroic senior officer, or else go for the tried and true JO w/honorifica route. (same stats, but 5pts cheaper than the HSO!)

looking forward to seeing how your force develops, though i sadly doubt we'll be seeing those rummored greatcoats before the end of the year

(they're more likely a mid-late '09 thing!)

thanks stitch ! your feedback is always appreciated :] i'll see what i can do about adding the heroic senior officer, i don't like sinking points into HQ units too much though, so i'd likely have to rework a lot of things. we'll see though ! any other opinions ?
and i'll move some of the meltas around so i can fit a banner and have more anti-tank spread around.

Ahh good more Guardsmen on board with us. If you need any help I'd like to think I might be of some use either modeling or fluff wise for the Guard so ask away.

thanks BvL. also, if anyone has any inspiration, suggestions, or ideas for changing up guardsman so they don't all look like cadians, please feel free to...share them with me.
especially things like greatcoats and such, because i am using cadian shock troops as conscripts ONLY, and, since it looks like new IG won't be on the way in time for this project, i'll probably have to convert or GS my guard infantry so they don't look like cadians. hmmm. :]

BLARGHHHHHHHHH ! haha sorry it took so long for me to get on my feet. this was finals week just now and it's finally over, i have other responsibilities to attend to but i am committed to getting back into 40k.

JUNE GOALS:
primer + clean up my conscripts., which willbe standard cadian shock troops
fill out my command squads/fully convert them out of existing cadians
come up with a color scheme + custom detailing for standard guard infantry.

what did you use for the armour plates on the officer r4? is that GS or green card?

Those armourplates look like the ones that come with the Baneblade Driver but thats my quess.
Good stuff R4 the Commander looks cool and i like the look of the weapons.

i'm loving the commander conversion!

also, why not drill out the barrels of those conscripts?! would give them great looking autoguns - especially if you build a few models who have no gun and are just carrying around a bunch of extra ammo!

(hope you've seen the film 'enemy at the gates?!!)

haha i would but i haven't got a drill on me yet, i'm gonna look into that. we'll see about the 1 gun 1 ammo team idea, i like it but i'm not sure how i would pull it off in terms of models.

haha yea it is GS, but i let it cure before i started working with it, so it was nice and flat and easy to cut, etc.

nah! get the new commissar w/bolt pistol! notice how the pistol is right perfectly level with an officer's head?!

honest, with that model, your officer's will almost never fail a moral/pinning check!

well, GW US think it's a great new site which will better serve the customers?!!

honetly, go to either the UK store or the canadian store... much, much easier!
and yes, we curse the new site layout all the time at our store, because it's now also the default site for games-workshop worldwide!>.<

instead of the above helmets i just put in an order for the visored heavy infantry ones, and needless to say i'm preeeeeeetty excited, haha.
i am slowly going to build this army up, bit order by bit order...haha.
