this is the discussion thread for the terran members florida meet up. this has not been talked over with the staff and is completley rhaalidor's idea. this is a member made event where terran members from florida meet at a specified location (most possibly sci-fi city in orlando) and play a game or two of 40k.
of course all members that can make it are invited, so come if you can.

Sounds great, but in all honesty, you need to clear and let Ikarus have a say in all of this.. Given 40k Terra is a registered business, he needs to clear it all.

Even associating the name of 40k Terra with any event, and should ANYTHING happen of any injury or sort, legal matters can be taken against Ikarus and the website, and a host of other things..S, let me know.

I only know this because i've helped as an Events and Meet Up assistant co-ordinator on a community site for the Wheel of Time book series, and you'd be surprised some of the B.S. that can result from such things.

ok no prob, i didn't know terra was a business. also, it really isn't going to be announced, its just going to be us guys meeting at the store, not like there will be a banner or something, sorry if that was not clear. plus, this is just an opening post, so i thought ikky could see it when he browses the forums, i will delete if the staff feels it neccesary. again, sorry for the miix up.

No need to apologize or such.. But given the nature of this forum, this stuff does at least need to be run through Ikarus, etc.. It's a GREAT idea though man, and like I said i'm more than willing to help you on it.

You don't really need my permission to call up a florida meet, however, if you want to make a 40kterra official event... well we would have to talk further into doing something for that.

but a meetup - i dont see anything wrong with that.

IT's not just a business, if you put your name with it, and something bad happens, they can sue the owner of it, even it is just a forum.. I know because the forum I work with now is having it happen. Just cautioning you guys to have some sort of oversight, and have whoever is running it be over 18 so they can legally take responsibility... Otherwise, they could come after Ikky, and Marcus (or, in reality, his parents)... It's just a sticky mess when trying to run something 'official'.. If it's just a bunch of guys from FL getting together ata house or shop and playing a game, your golden. But turn it into an 'event' and things could happen... And I'd hate to see it happen here, it's a real fun time to deal with.

I briefly discussed a Florida meet with Munkey Joe a couple of months ago. Our idea was to get a couple of the Florida members together for a meet and greet, and play a couple of games. It really hasn't been discussed in much detail. I'll be organizing, but there are no details available at this time. Anyone interested can PM me, and we'll see about getting a venue and set something up.

As for the meet being "official", I haven't spoken with Ikarus, as I see this as a gathering of Florida players who happen to be members of 40K. As I said, a meet and greet for us southern guys to get together and hold a game store hostage for a few hours.
