Blog Entries: 2 | Metal. The darker and more violent the better. Just so long as it isn't outright blasphemous without being good inspiration for Chaos stories, i.e. I F****** Hate You by Godsmack. The rest of their songs that I have are great.... I just hate I Hate. And yet, I still listen to Inside The Fire by Disturbed. It's good inspiration for the Chaos fic I'm writing.

Blog Entries: 1 | Hey, how 'bout expanding this a little bit. What's your favorite band in your favorite genre? For me it'd be Amon Amarth for death metal, and Stick to Your Guns (or xAFBx) for hardcore. What about you? |

| While I can agree with Rap (but somehow enjoy rap-rock/rapcore/nu-metal... don't ask... but pure rap... its evil I tell you) and understand techno, why the non-love (lol... interesting word...) of metal? Its just me, but, IHMO, the best talent I've heard in music ALWAYS come from metal bands (dragon force for guitars and drums, nightwish for keyboards, demonhunter, killswitch engage, Evanescence for vocals). Honestly, I've never heard a band of a genre other than metal top those... lyrics, yes, I've see better, more cleverly written lyrics in other genres (Relient K and Weird Al have written some rather clever lyrics, IMO) but pure musical talent? Metal Wins ever time. Not bashing you, just wondering why you don't like metal...

| Ahh... well.. Evanesence isn't exactly metal... but they have a metally sound... ahh... this is the part of metal I hate.. what makes it metal and what makes it hard rock? But anyways... from your comment, I have a feeling there is lots of metal you would like... Symphonic metal, Power Metal... and well, anything with a lack of screaming... (disturbed?)

| Commissar of Spelling ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ahhh. We have here a conundrum. Who is the best? Drummer: I'd say, off the top of my head - Neil Peart from Rush - but, listen to Buddy Rich, from a long time ago. Sheer rhythmic genius. Lead Guitar: I'll say Yngwie Malmsteen, and Steve Vai and Eric Johnson run 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Some would say Eric Clapton, and some will say George Harrison or Edward Van Halen. Depends on what you like. Rhythm Guitar: That's easy, James Hetfield. Fastest, most accurate, most consistent. No contest. All others are imitations. Bass Guitar: Since I love Rush, I'd be tempted to say Geddy Lee. But, my vote goes to Stuart Hamm. Stu the studio bass player, is Stu the best bassist that has ever lived. Billy Sheehan, a close second. Jaco Pastorius from Weather Report (Jazz) is up there too. John Entwhistle (The Who) was a great bassist as well. Keyboardists: a dime a dozen. Anybody with half a brain can program a keyboard or a computer-based sequencer. My fave is Greg Lake, from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, when keyboards were organs and pianos, and they had to play for a living. I like Classic Rock. The Beatles win, hands down. Rush comes in second. The Who, very close third. Then, ELP, Stones, and Meatloaf. I also like Metal. The band named after metal, Metallica, gets my vote. Savatage runs a close second. All those other bands, what can I say? I am a geezer. I like the old guys.

Blog Entries: 5 | Whilst this thread is reanimated for a short while... I love music of all descriptions, the exception being pig squeal death metal, R'n'B <- the fake stuff like Chris Brown etc and most emo/scene kid trash. Drum and Bass is a fantastic Genre, loving Pendulum at the moment. Quite liking Angerfist at the moment too. Big fan of Delain and Nightwish as well as some Cradle of Filth Gorgoroth and Dark Funeral are also two fantastic bands. Alphabeat has one of my favourite songs 'Fascination'. From what I have heard, 3 6 Mafia are pretty damned good, Loving the UK Grime scene. Dizzee Rascal is a genius. Basically, whatever. There are loads of other stuff but thats what I'm listening to at the moment. |
