Blog Entries: 3  |  Can you assault out of a drop pod? Question 1 - Can you assault out of a drop pod? Quesiont 2 - Can you assault with a dreadnought out of a drop pod? Fact- A Drop pod is 'open-topped', and a transport. Rule in question: Pg. 70 in rulebook "The passengers of opentopped vehicles may assault, even if the vehicle has moved before their disembarkation." oh time for some interesting thinking.

The passangers may not move (other than to disembark) or assult in the turn they land. They may shoot but count as moving." so no assulting out of a drop pod even though it is an open topped vehicle. |

| Re: Can you assault out of a drop pod? So I am assuming that the "opened top" rule for drop pods differs from that of all other "opened top rules, because the codex rule overwrites the rule book. The Dark eldar raider has an upgrade called screaming jets, which allows the vehicle to deep strike, but because they do that ,the models may "not" disembark the turn they arrive. This rule over rides the original rule for open top transports for the dark eldar.

| Re: Can you assault out of a drop pod? Yeah they wrote the rule in to make sure that you still follow the normal rules for deep strike when you use a drop pod. The rule being that you can't assault or make a normal move. The open topped feature is to show that it is easily damaged or destroyed.

 but the drop pods will remain the same... the reason of the 'open topped' atribute is because the pods are really just a delivery system - they're not an actual combat viable vehicle in any way. a drop pod's only purpose is to get their marine cargo onto the battlefield safely from orbit. after that, they're used-up and worthless. cheers!
