Default annoying kids in GS

don't get me wrong, i'm all for a friend bringing in his kids to the store, buty when they start to play, they don't read, they use thier imagination.

READ THE RULEBOOK!

they make up rules, get thier new army which thier proud of quashed by an experienced player, and tell thier father they don't want to play anymore = pissed off father (think of all that cash wasted syndrome) = whining/crying kid = even more pissed off dad.

really, thier just annoying and don't have brains enough to read...

no offence anyone who is/ has a succesful warhammer playing kid.

end rant.

yes, romulas is indeed right, i may be 19- 20 in november but i was a game store kid once you know, and i hated every minute of it, people wouldn't play me becuase i was only a small child, yet i knew the rules and played by them, owned a codex and had an army list,i ended up playing the store staff!

but yes, i suppose you are right, but remember, not all small children are whining little brats, alot of them are very nice poeple, who are just wanting to learn a few things from us.

sorry i just felt that nessecary to say.

but yes you are right in a way

One of the great things that GW has done is get new blood into the Miniature hobby!

Prior to GW's 40k and Fantasy boom, most miniature gaming was a bunch of old **** Historical gamers. If that trend had continued, miniature gaming would have withered with the advent of online gaming! And I would have no place to play with my little dolls and soldiers!

I am always down to help younger gamers learn and will play and teach them if they are willing to learn,i was licky this way when i started i hadsome great vet teachers but theres always those certain kids that are normally around 15 that know everything and wont learn and cry and complain the whole time, I just wont play them. But its a shame when theres vets that are so into winning that they wont take a minute to teach and they are just as bad as the younger ones.
But i def dont bash them for using there imagination, you just gotta ask before you play against someone before just jumping in, the key is to play within your experiance level till you get some experiance.

When I started the hobby, I had a group of vets who got me into the game and taught me everything there was to know about the games I now play! (they also kicked the snot out of me!) I know how it is to be the kid in a game store, but at least I listened and was more than willing to learn from their teaching and from my mistakes rather than throwing a fit about losing!

I'm going to quote something I wrote along time ago, when I was a newb ranter:

"Damn them all! You know who i'm talking about, if you've read my recent posts (Unpainted Models and the Leman Russ Mockery) then you'll understand my anger. My pure RAGE at the new spawns rushing into GW to buy pretty figures and proceed to act as if they know everything. I'm talking about the Game Store Brats.

Sure, it's ok if they're controlled. But in general, they're not. They don't finish their models, and complain that they can't paint as well as the Veterans of the store and run off crying. They're pointless playing against because your bound to get some subtle new rule introduced in this game and then pushed aside as if it never existed. And of course, there ARE no rules when your playing against these complete idiots with intelligence ranging from a Tea spoon to a potted plant. They dis-regard everything about 40k, including the time we spend on making our models as perfect as we can possibly paint.

For example, the last game i played was against a GS Kid. Unfortunately. He didn't seem to understand that the person that owns the models, removes them from the table. And he literally picked up my Termie Sargeant and threw him onto the next table, causing the players there to stop their game and glare at ME. The little kid decided he'd like to look very innocent. (The game was then won by me. I was being nice for the majority, but after that incident I rushed his entire army with a combination of assault marines, A Close Combat based command squad and the remainder of my army.) He actually cried after that. I felt happy, even if that sounds incredibly evil.

And then there's the fact they have caused the game to be dumbed down extremely. Overwatch was removed, and that was one of my favourite rules. And now, they're even creating beginner-pre-assembled models (Battle For Macragge, for instance, you only have to put the Backpack & Bolter onto the marines). How are they EVER going to learn if they start off with crap like that?

*Sighs* Ban them all from stores i say, or at least stop them refusing to lose when all their models have been removed from the table and officially, they HAVE lost.

Thanks for Reading, Comment! Now!"

Should put my feelings into some sort of context.

[I'm 15-_-] I agree with this, though the only problem is most of the kids now don't want to learn. I know I speak like i'm older, and I do class myself as a minor vet. being in the hobby for almost 5 years now. But to see people my age acting like 5 year olds when they lose to me, and if I try to give them advice they shrug it off and challenge me to a rematch, subsequently losing, sickens me slightly. Kids these days eh?

Eh i can top that, i played a kid to be nice since no one else would, and it was the most stupid thing i have ever done......He put a freaking fantasy FORTRESS UP to protect his troops and they where tau so he would move up and down, i thought ya ok what ever i dont care so I Let him wipe out half my troops then i landed 3 squads of swooping hawks and Lord Barroth behind The Damn Fortress and destroyed 90% of his forces in one turn.....after that he called me a cheater and ran off yelling when ever he sees me and im a jack ass (The KID IS LIKE 7 I WAS TRYING TO LET HIM WIN AND HE STILL LOST!)

So in short any kid under 12 SHOULD NOT be playing this game to be honest, they destroy models (i cried for a dipped blue\orange tau suit)

I guess I've seen pretty much every kind of behavior from all ages offolks in my 19 years in this game. I have found a few things to be true:

1. Not every 7-year-old has a 7-year-old mentality. Some of them are quite intellegent, and catch on to the game pretty darned quick.

2. Not every 27-year-old has a 27-year-old mentality. Some of them are dumb as tree stumps.

3. You can't judge a player's behavior by the way he/she looks. I have an 11 year-old niece who can't decide if she wants to spend her money on Hollister clothing, Jonas Brothers concert tickets, or an Ork Battleforce. She started playing when she was 8.

4. Most kids think their paintjobs are nice. Why can't you agree with them? Sometimes a little lie is good medicine for everybody involved.

If you want to gripe about the kiddies, then tell us how many times you have taken the time to teach something to one of them.

I'm not trying to disagree with anyone who has posted here. Just remember, we were all that little kid, at one time or another.

i was mentioning the really annoying ones, and like warchild i am still all game to help the youngbloods, i even tell all of the ones i see about the wonders of the forums, and always give some tactical advice. for instance, one youngblood was using saurus with spears and shields, while the most tactical option is swords/shields for the extra save, thus i carefully explained this to him, and he listened and respected my advice.

the only thing is that If they call me a cheater after i do something perfectly rule legal and they whine and cry it gets on my nerves if you know what i mean.

oh and big sorry to rom and everyone else for the obcensity, it will not happen again.

This is so true... we I started this hobby, I was twelve... I read the rule book one night when i had jet lag... it took me a while to figure out all the rules... but I did try to figure all the rules, and did do it.

I'm sixteen now... 4 years later (darn... I've been in this hobby for a long time...) I know... like... all the rules of 4th edition, I can roll the charts without looking at the charts... and while I still suck at painting, that's something that I think will never change.

Some people can take the time to learn, others can't, some want to, some don't. That's life...

For the record, first chance I get, I'll play a "little kid" in a store... even if he ends up cheating and then complaining after I beat him...

Bottom line is we are in a hobby that attracts some annoying people. When I think about it every hobby attracts some annoying people because hobbies are fun and annoying people need release too. I always give kids the benefit of the doubt when they are being annoying. They don't know what they are doing sometimes and they still haven't had the chance to figure out how to behave like a normal human being. Once you are past 18 I'll start to get annoyed and if you made it through college age but you still have no social skills then I will openly rip on you. You know who you are Mister:

Talk to every and any girl that walks into the store while getting so close to her as to make her uncomfortable and perpetuate a stereo type guy.

Give tactical advice to everyone in the store when not asked guy.

Tell everyone everything you know about music/war/star wars/etc. without stopping for breath for 8 hours guy.

B.O. guy.

Smack talk everyone and every game whether you are playing it or not and thinking you are the best player in the world when in reality you suck guy.

Jump into every conversation without actually having listened first guy.

There are so many, so for me I just leave the children alone. Ignore them or teach them. Do whatever you want to do. Even sometimes a kid will learn pretty well if you rip on him. It takes a lot to make me hate someone if they are below 18.

So far about 12. I believe England may be worse for it. =/

Correct every wrong move in a game that's not yours guy.
Beat everyone repeatedly without thought of how much of a jackass you like guy when you brag.

Thanks. I worked at a GW so while I was there I was too busy to have my own opinions but I got a good deal of time to watch how people in a store act.

well, you forgot the worst personality of the lot though; the Sad Panda
their personality is very wide ranging, but typically shows the following signs:
- is arrogant in the extreme, bordering on a 'god complex'.
- ruthlesslessly complains about any changes to rules. typically their hate is mostly towards rules which have been re-ascessed and balanced.
- claim every new codex is utter trash and that they could have done much better.
- complains about the prices and how 'back in the good ol days' they could get stuff cheaper. (well, 20 years ago money really WAS worth less than it is today!!!)
- generally just saps the happiness out of their current environment leaving those around them feeling depressed and spiteful
- ALWAYS GOES ON ABOUT THE REDSHIRTS BEING THE WORST THING ABOUT GW!!! always saying that redshirts are idiots who simply try to sell you all kinds of ***** you don't need and how they ruthlessly pump people for money... always claiming that the redshirts know very little about what they're doing... constantly saying that the poor redshirts are fake and should be shot...

while the kids can get out of hand at times and there's ALWAYS! 'little jimmy' whom everyone hates because he's a smug little jerk, the 'Sad Panda' is by far the very worst of the lot!

cheers!
