Blog Entries: 1 | Allright, first rant.. gotta get fired up.... Rawr. Anyways, something that i've noticed is that some people have absolutly no respect for other's models, and do not have the decency to ask before they touch. Now, I know that there are a lot of people out there that are perfectly sensible, who ask before they pick up your models, and respect your box of models, etc. This is kinda directed at some of the kids that wander in and out of my local GW store, and the kids that just randomly reach out and grab a model. Most annoying thing ever, and so rude. Not too long ago, I was hanging out in GW, painting and working on my men. So I get up to go get a codex as my guys dry, and when I come back, some little kid is tearing through my box, looking at models and tossing them back in like they're rocks. Of course, i'm pissed. The God-emperor knows how long i've worked on my guys, and this kid is going through them like they're the plastic army men that you buy fifty for ten bucks. I manage to keep my anger in check, and instead lean on a chair and give that evil "I'm gonna eat your soul, skin you, and wear you as a coat" smile, and mention," You know, you should ask before you go through my models." At this, the kids jumps, chucks my model back in, and backs away. I think I shed a tear inside, because the model hit the wall and got chipped. The kid ran out of the store as fast as he could, and I picked up the model. His sword was bent, and a bunch of the paint chipped off. I swear, I have never been so enfuriated in my life. Allright, another time. It was a "bizare baazar", or however you spell it, at my local store. Basically, it's where they allow us to seel our models, and trade, etc. because of some new release. So i've put down some of my old bretonians and empire soldiers, and i'm waiting to get a good offer for them. I'm hanging out, sipping a soda, minding my on buissness, haggling with a kid over some Dark eldar, when another kid comes up and picks up on of my favorite guys, and moves him to the middle of the table, and he starts making noises like the guy ate some horrid food and his stomach is exploding from it. So I ask him to give it back, and he ditches the model, going to harass some other guy. I put the guy back, give him the "emo death glare", and go back to haggling. Later, he comes up and puts down one of his Black Orcs, and mentions that it could destroy my men. I give him the glare again, and emit the body language to "back off before I come after you like the wrath of Rogal dorn". Kid does the stupidest thing he can. He remarks that my guys, "suck", and that his are way better. I growl, and tell him to buzz off before the model makes a sudden trip up his backside. After a couple more minutes of him mocking my mini's, he goes away, and I am inches away from pimp-slapping him so hard he flies. It's really a matter of respect. I belive that the amount of respect that people give is lacking, at least with younger children. I mean, for the Emperor's sake. They should be taught at LEAST to ask first. ... and i've run out of ranting! CMC

| Sergeant ![]() ![]() | Hear Hear i totally agree ^_^ Worse thing ever when people lift your models and toss them about. Worse! Especially if you've sat and gave attention to each one!! Just as annoying (although it didnt happen to me) our store made a big Mines of Moria diarama to help promote LoTR (which i helped build oh yeah lol) Anyways, staff member has been working hard on the balrog model and another guy has been working hard on his bretonnian knight for the upcoming painting comp! They both set them down to dry and head to other side of store (our store is small so its not like they were really un-attended. 5-7 strides get you back to the table :P ) But some wee guys who think theyre cool and call us names etc come striding in, lift BOTH models and leave again ! like WTF !? I love the narrow-mindedness of these people. Grrr!

Blog Entries: 1 | at least you have a solid door. most kids find a way to get through that stuff. i find that parents are more lax on thier children these days, so the universal steryotype for a kid is "the kid that does whatever he want with almost no fear of reprisal." much like a thief. decency should be taught and ingrained into the heads of these kids, so that our models can live peacfully. |

Blog Entries: 1 | Today there was a kid in my store that was a total rules lawyer.... Except, he didn't know the rules!!! I had fun point out the corrections to him, even though he called me an idiot god knows how many times.

| Patron Saint of Leicester ![]() ![]() ![]() | Call me old-fashioned, but when someone a third of my age and obviously less experience than myself should happen to call me an idiot, I will pack my models away. Then I will remind the store owner how much money I have spent in his store in the last few years. The kid won't call me an idiot again. As for the kiddies that like to handle my models...it's only happened once. A 5 or 6-year-old with apparent hyper-activity problems came in the FLGS with his father. The child walked in the door while I was playing a game, and came directly to the table and reached for my newly painted Land Raider. The brat picked up my model, looked at it, and dropped it. (Dad was perusing comics.) I walked over to Dad, and whispered to him,"Your child has broken my model. I paid $45 for it. Your child has a new toy. You owe me 45 bucks". Dad looked up at me as if I were crazy, which I really was at the time. My opponent for the game was an newly off-duty Sheriff's Deputy, still in uniform, who appeared over my shoulder, with a really sympathic look on his face. My opponent told the father that he is, indeed, responsible for the actions of his child. Dad whipped out his wallet and bought me a new Land Raider. He left the store without comics (and without his brat's broken new toy), and for several years, I never saw him come to the store with his kid. Too bad it doesn't turn out this way for everyone. I don't mind teaching kids to play 40K and Warhammer. I do mind when they pick up my models. I don't mind telling mom and dad to put a frickin leash on their kids.

my mate in the design studio had 8 of his 12 genestealers lifted right off his desk! ![]() i still can't get over just how low that was - not that my mate has really gotten over it either! the fact being; a) in all probability it was a co-worker! a co-worker who is also likely a hobbyist themselves!!! b) the models wouldn't be usable anywhere around the HQ building as everyone knows what my mate's 'stealers looked like c) us employes get a fething discount to begin with!!! mind, he cheered up quite a bit when i told him how i was temporarly banned from the local rouge trader store. ![]() it's really not in little timmy's best interest to slam his dumb toy truck threw my salamanders army and smash half of them into their component bitz... i was not amused in the least and while i was held back by two larger guys, my verbal assault against little timmy and his jerk-off mum who saw nothing wrong with what her son had done, was somewhat 'inappropriate' for a family-oriented hobby shop! cheers!

Blog Entries: 1 | Well, I have zero bad expeiences with people touching my models (I barely play and they're unglier than Tomb Kings right out of their grave) but I did see a scratch built thunderhawk made out of wood and touched without permission and I got a splinter. Those marines must have installed a new security system or something

| I want to see less friggin kids, GW produces a game that says "not reccomended for children under 14", so WTF is the average 10 year-old doing with a box of marines? I was an exception, being a very serious child I had assimilated the idea of respecting others stuff pretty quickly, and gained the friendship of the store bikers when I threw an absolute paddy at an 18 yr old for touching my stuff without asking. I never stood too close to the guys painting, never touched without asking and always picked stuff up by the base, hence the bikers' "We hate kids, but you're cool & can chill here" announcement to me one weekend!

Blog Entries: 1 | At my store, the employee's fear the little kids like no others. I was sitting down and painting with two of the redshirts, and a little kida round the age of six yells to his da," I like this store! I like this store! I want to go to this store." As he's doing this, one of them look sup, rolls his eyes, and leans his head down in a prayer, mumbling "Don't let him come in, don't let him come in, pleeeeease...." etc, etc. Thank god, the kid wasn't allowed in. I started the hobby when I was twelve, and I had the utmost respect for the veterans and everybody else. I knew that I painted horribly, so I shouldn't critique other models, or touch them for fear I would ruin them.
