| Soldaten ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Alrighty then, I like the list in a way. I love how its organized... For the most part its good. THere are a few things bugging me though. For starters your dreadnoughts..... I know they are trying to be Anti Tank. If thats true give them the assault cannon. For starters its stasticly better to blow up AV 14 tanks then the TL Lascannon. The numbers are true I mathmaticly figured it out. Also why not give them the CC weapon? This would make them well rounded and they kick ass in CC. Also I noticed your troop choices. Now I know you have the Stormtroopers just so that you can run them up and have the reinforcements deep strike right near them. Well if you drop the GK troop choice you then have enough points for a second squad of stormtroopers in a chimera, and have extra points to make your fast attack GKs a full 10 man strong. You may even have enough to add one more terminator, I dunno.... Cheers Peter.

| Extremis Diabolus ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think, personally, it would very very cool and fluffy to drop the IST's and go for a pure GK force. You could only get a 5-man squad however, so perhaps losing one of the dreads would be ok. If that isn't what you're going for, then I would take Steellegioncpt's advice.

| Primer ![]() | Thanks for the advice guys! My friends were actually telling me to drop the IST's, get assault cannons on my dreads (giving them CCW w/ Heavy Flamer of course) and with the extra points, adding a LRC to the mix (which I feel to be to much of a points sink at 1.5k pts...) |

NO no no no LCR never eeww I hate them. YOur playing a 1.5k game and your willing to invest 1/8th of your points (roughly 250) into one tank geeze...! its never worth it. Also you would want the ISTs cause they add numbers to your army, and their transports can help you capture objectives.

| transports are not scoring units. (which is why I laugh when I see a Land Raider as a transport upgrade for vetrans/chosen) LRC = 245 points (a sink I agree) but your HQ = 245! lets not be talking about investing 1/8th into a tank when he is doing the same for 1 model. keep the ISTs, go with the Assault Cannons and DCCW (i don't know that I would upgrade to Heavy flamer or not) if you reduced your GKs to minimum sized squads you could then field a 3rd squad as well, giving you more versitility and punch and that HQ is expensive, might be effective, but at a heavy sacrifice. How else could you use some of those points? with an army that tipicly has so few models, is it beter to sink points into a couple or is it beter to try to optimize model count/unit capability? which provides a beter overall effectiveness? | I love the look of the grey Knights, but have found them to be total losers. I have played an army almost Identical to this and got whooped big time. The real fly in the ointment is the near total lack of anti-armor weaponry, You have no ranged weapons save those 2 lonely dreads. In my experience, the enemy blows them up, then tanks you to death. However, the fellow who suggests that you take assault cannons over lascannons is overlooking the range factor. The Lascannon reaches out 48 inches, the assault cannon only half that. Then too, when the time comes that you play against a monolith, you will have to have a lascannon to knock it out==rending doesn't work on monoliths. I also think you are wise to go with the missile launcher over the CCW arm. Your Troops will have little enough cover fire, you will need all you can get. |

| Primer ![]() | I played a 2k pt. Game yesterday and my Stormtroopers pulled through as they took out the enemy's Land Raider on my first shooting phase. I might go CCW & Heavy Flamer w/ my Dreads, but they were many instances when I wanted that extra anti-tank attack with the missile launcher in yesterday's game. ____________________________ Here's another list that I made up with my friend yesterday. Critiques are welcome: Headquarters -Grandmaster [215 pts] Equipment: Master-Crafted NFW, Psycannon, Icon of the Just -Retinue: 3 Terminators [138 pts] Troops -6 Grey Knights w/ Justicar (1 Incinerator) [190 pts] -6 Grey Knights w/ Justicar (1 Incinerator) [190 pts] -6 Grey Knights w/ Justicar (1 Incinerator) [190 pts] Heavy Support -Purgation Squad (Number/Squad: 6) [275 pts] -Dreadnought (Lascannon & Missile Launcher, Extra Armour) [145 pts] -Dreadnought (Lascannon & Missile Launcher, Extra Armour) [145 pts] Total Points: 1488 Last edited by Grandmaster Ezra Godfrey; 11-07-2006 at 02:44 PM. |

| Primer ![]() | Personnaly, I feel that an Inquisitor Lord with a very good retinue is more of a point sink that my Terminators w/ Grandmaster. The Purgation squad is there for fire support and to not move like any other devestator/havoc squad. Why, you might ask? Because rarely will I ever get shots off with my psycannons with my fairly mobile Grey Knights and I feel it better than they will stand still in a Purg. Squad. Thanks for your input though. |
