| The Emperor's Mercy ![]() ![]() ![]() | okay. well i have a bit of a dilemma, because i realize that inquisitors and retinues, especially as allies [to marines in my case] can get really expensive really fast. so i was wondering, especially for stitch because i know she runs an inquisitor [lord?] even though he's expensive, in her army lists... if you guys can, could you give me a sort of "inquisitor and retinue" list so i can see what you use, especially in the smaller games ? thanks :] -ant

| The Dark Apostle ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well for a small game i would go with an inquisitor (not lord) with storm bolter, sage, and a heavy bolter servitor. thats off the top of my head around 80 points. not very expensive yet still able to put out soem relitivly good anti-infantry firepower. or you could also go with an inquisitor, sage, and 3 basic warrior henchmen for some less powerful-yet more shots type of thing. the basic henchmen is a karskin pretty much. inquisitors are pretty terrible in CC so i wouldnt go in that route.

| My set up for Inquisitor Lord Asireloth: Psycannon, Holocaust, Power weapon Retinue: 1-2x Sage (I have massed imperial guard, so I have two in case the servitor below is down, so an IG squad can wither away.) 1x Mystic (Not required, but a BS of 5 is a nice bonus if you like) 1x Heavy bolter servitor (a must, in my opinion) Sometimes, rarely, I will add in an acolyte too. The extra ablative wound is never a bad thing. I would suggest the 2x Sage, and the ability to sub out a Mystice or Acolyte depending on the army. |

| Actually, Stitch is the one who helped me with this setup. The credit really should go to her, as I had Lord Asireloth all CC decked out (Daemon hammer, arty armor, etc) with a retinue of 3 acolytes just like above. But the wise little blue one helped me see the error of that. |

| If you are not an army of grey knights, and you plan on fighting Eldar, Take the Lord with a psychic hood. That Seer council on bikes is a lot more vulnerable if you can keep fortune from going off. Last fall I saw a canny IG player skin an Eldar players pointy little ears that way. When the Fortune roll failed, he dumped everything but the kitchen sink on them, and by the time he was through, there was only one warlock left. (The Warlock failed an armor save to a str 6 multi las hit, while his comrade made his). The 100 odd points he had spent on his lord were well worth the price of admission when they allowed him to kill something like 600 points of pointy-eared space elves. |

so, how to equip inquisitors eh?! well first off as others hae said they really do suck big time in assaults, mainly because the poor inquisitor has only human stats... plus daemonhunter inquisitors get shafted because they are forced to pay 'space marine' pts costs due to sharing the armoury with grey knights... (so you pay way more to be far less effective?!! )so keep your retinue shooty above all and you'll have a *much* easier time earning back your pts investment... here's my current set-up btw in case you're curious; Inquisitor Lord Odion Ishtar w/Dhaos Dhachamon’ Ra, The Hand of Fate (‘counts as’ Psycannon), Close combat weapon, Auspex. Holocaust Psychic power. cost; 108 pts Retinue; Brother Codicier Balthazar, Acolyte w/ Bolter, Close combat weapon & Power armour. Crusader Methos, Acolyte w/ Close combat weapon & Storm shield Mutant Emessary Virgil, Gun servitor w/Heavy bolter Gun servitor w/Heavy bolter. Familiar. Penitent Witch Lucious, Mystic. cost; 99 pts - this is my tournament set-up. the psycannon + 2 heavy bolters put out a fearsome amount of anti-infantry firepower and all of it is ap4. on top of that the inquisitor's shots ignore invulnerable type saves too! the 2 acolytes are there more for background, but still provide a couple of handy meatshields for the inquisitor should the retinue take some nastier S6 enemy fire! the familiar up's odion's 'I' value so that he can hopefully thump anyone in base contact with him and thus ensure he get's to use his holocaust power! ![]() basically, the only reason overall to take an inquisitor is; a) a cheap psychic hood for armies that normally don't have the option. (ie; guard) b) they're very characterful and you enjoy the story aspect of the game c) including an assassin in your force now, for only a 1500pts match it's best to try and keep the inquisitor + retinue pts cost to no more than 200 or so odd pts... (in hind-sight, mine would be much more efficient if i lost the expensive acolytes & holocaust and went strictly for 3 gun servitors!) anyways, i hope this helps! cheers!

i just have a quick question now cause it's definitely 730 in the morning and i have to go to school soon lol. but for your inquisitor lord, did you give him the auspex in order to replace the ability of having 2 mystics? i think, if i remember correctly at least, that 2 mystics allows the entire squad to fire at deep striking squads, orrr allocate shots for another of your units to fire at deep strikers right ? just wondering...that auspex i might give to my inquisitor as well :] as for the psycannon, yea i think it's a great idea, i wasn't thinking of putting anything that expensive into CC anyways XD well i only got a chance to skim through your comment so i'll read it more thoroughly later today :] thanks again! -ant EDIT: kay i definitely misread the auspex rules, ignore what i said above XD XDbut thanks again to all! :]
