| well, i'm just curious as to how many other true inquisitors are out there?! as my inquisitor's story is continuing and he becomes more and more obsessed with the study and knowledge of all things chaos, i was considering converting up a daemonhost... however, before i go and blow a good chunck of change on bitz! i was wondering if anyone here has used a daemonhost and what their experiences with them have been??? i've used some of the new radical wargear from WD287 (north america) and i've found the books of pain to be quite a bit of fun when combined with lots of deep striking guardsmen! but, lately i feel the need to try and use a creature of chaos itself as an ultiment weapon. *evil laugh* cheers!

| Extremis Diabolus ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ah! Another WD I must get a hold of... I used one once, and it wasn't that great. Because the psychic power was random, it's hard to use effectively. I don't think you have to use the power when you roll, but yeah. It can do some nasty stuff (like be S9, T7), but is hard to use. I would use them merely to cause mayhem in the basic troopers. Even then, a squad of my tactical Marines took one out, so it really depends on the powers you get. But they are fun to use, and good fluff for a radical Inquisitor. Inquisitor Rosenadel uses daemonhosts...

Blog Entries: 4 | Torquemada Coteaz... nuff said. however if i was to add some other inquisitors to my collection, I might need that issue, (which is actually now just WD 287 America. because the americans dont support us canuks anymore, now that we got our own, and before we did we were just stealing off them anyways xD)

| there's some fun stuff in there, though some of it is rather pointless or else less effective due to it being only for inquisitors... (S3 really hurts in assault!) the books of pain are just plain evil! hmmmm... i might just wait then on a daemonhost... the randomness kinda sucks. what i might do for friendly games is come up with a 'counts as' model. i'll use a chaos Lt and stick to only daemonic upgrades and psychic powers?! illegal yes, but then, at least he's more predictable! (for my opponent too!) cheers!

| i'm just thinking that with my luck, i'll probably 'terrify' half my army each turn! IIRC, the daemonhunter's Q&A mentioned that daemonhosts *must* use their powers each turn as they have a nasty habbit of not doing what their told! cheers!

| Banned | arent they worth it just for the daemonhosts? my only beef is that chaos cant have them (one addition to my version of codex: chaos... but thats for another thread) its a bit of a running joke with me and my best friend. hes been a puritan inquisitor for over ten years now, since way before most people even knew what an inquisitor was let alone what a radical/puritan was. and im a far out radical! makes for some great drunken arguments! |

Blog Entries: 4 | Chaos can't have daemonhosts because they have daemons. Daemonhosts are people who have daemons summoned into them and bound by HOLY chains, locks, inscriptions, etc. Chaos is nothing near "holy. though it can be reasoned that daemons do possess psyckers, they'd work differently than a bound daemonhost

Blog Entries: 4 | posessed psyckers would behave a lot differently from daemonhosts: would be bound by magic (if bound by a lord) or would just "posess" the person involved would be more unpredictable in power level (because unlike daemonhosts, natural posession involves a certain level of compatability issues that results in too much or too little power being able to unleash) would wear out the posessed far more quickly

Blog Entries: 4 | haha like i said, daemonhosts still have some level of purity. if you were chaos and did it a different way, th daemonhosts would work differently. another thing is that the holyness of bounding actually LIMITS the daemonhost, so chaos dhosts would be more powerfull, and more predictable, but probably less controllable by the creator (though who cares they'd work together cause they're the same side right?)

Blog Entries: 4 | well no, a fallen inquisitor would do it the chaos way because his knowledge of chaos tells him its "better" (chaos gods whispering to him?) a radical inqusitor uses daemonhosts in th same way as codex. in any case, you can put it in your Codex:Chaos xD However i think what GW wanted to do was give DH something special by way of radical units, but not radical enough to summon daemons.

| well, i was simply thinking of using the 'counts as' rule for some friendly, more narrative-based games... i would use a chaos Lt as the base, and simply stick to daemonic upgrades and psychic powers... he would 'count as' a daemonhost and not look like a regular daemonically enhanced marine. basically this would give me a more predictable "daemonhost", but would allow me to better customise it as a truely unique entity (which all daemonhosts are!) i'm hopefull that when the inquisition 'dexes come up for review, they'll a) make radical forces acctually playable *from the freakin' codex itself*!!! b) daemonhosts become more unique in that you buy a base profile, and get to choose a number of up-grades & psychic abilities to represent the properties of the daemon the inquisitor has bound into his service! right now i'm thinking they're a little too random for their pts costs as they can be unstopable monstrosities that should be worth two or three times their pts costs, or else you end up with a useless model that should be worth about as much as a grot!!! ah well, guess i'll just have to keep dreaming for now! cheers!

Blog Entries: 4 | hmm... perhaps your chaos LT "counts as" idea can fit as "chaos daemonhost" in DeAd's Codex: chaos...

| all of theis talk of daemonhost brings me back to Cherubael. Now he was a daemonhost to be proud of. He has destroyed a titain, a rouge trader ship, 2 other daemonhost and a powerful servant of chaos. The best thing about him though was his dry sense of humor.
