i thought a DP was a blend of hunam form and daemonic energy, kinda like a possessed marine just without the daemon's personality intruding on the marine's. so i guess they'd have the same organs and stuff as they did when they were mortal

A Daemonprince is mortal, yet immortal.
The best champions of chaos recieve gifts of the years of their service, mutations, powers, etc. Eventually there are only two possibly outcomes for these champions - either Spawndom or assencion to being a Daemonprince - a human with daemonic form and powers.

Yet despite all this, they are not true daemons, and so their soul is not immortal in the same sense as most daemons. In fact, Daemonprinces are looked down on by even lesser daemons with distaste, for they are neither man nor daemon.

Only the most loyal and worthy daemonprinces are ever gifted the final leap into true daemonhood, their warp presence swelled to such levels that it is their entire being and the body is just an extension of it in the physical realm.

But as for what the internal organs of a daemon prince are like, no idea. Your guess is as good as mine quite frankly.

Hmm. Now I am really curious about the inner workings of a DP. Would they still have a black carapace?

yeah yeah guys, i know, i know, lol.

As for the black carapace, it would possibly exist in some form or other, but generally by the time a champion has reached the level of Daemonprince, I would expect their armour to be a permanent part of their body anyway, so if you breeched their chest armour, you'd probably just find mutated flesh welded to the inside.

EDIT:
Just as a wee extra, it should be noted that its not just CSMs that can become Daemonprinces... they existed before the Imperium for certain. And I'm pretty sure it would be possible for an alien to ascend as well. It takes a lot of bloody shed and centuries - if not millennia - of servitude to be given such a gift by a chaos god, but with the gifts of chaos, it would not be impossible for any sentient creature to achieve this.

Eldar DP? Also, I've been wondering why some are larger than others (in the 3rd ed. dex you could have one without Daemonic Stature) or are they all huge now?

This brings up the question.....why hasn't Abaddon become a Daemon Prince? In fact it looks like he hasn't recieved many "gifts" at all.

I'm thinking due to its Daemonic nature, a DP loses strength the futher it moves away from the Eye. Abbadon has unfinished buisness in the material realm. I for one believe he is the biological son of Horus, and does not want to rely too much on Daemonic gifts. I think he keeps the dark powers at arms length. After all, didn't the Chaos powers abandon Horus in the final moments before he was killed? As far as DPs go, I think they are more warp material than biological material.

Abbaddon has repeatedly refused 'ascension' to Daemonhood and whilst he may use the Dark Gods favour he's no raving Word Bearer...

Its has been categorically stated by GW that Abbadon is not a relation of Horus, other than having his geneseed like all original Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus.

An Eldar DP would be unheard of I suspect, as Eldar protect themselves from the warp using soul stones and the Dark Eldar have already given their souls and use slaughter as a way to continue their material existence - although its all a bit vague regarding DE at the moment, the new codex should sort everything.

Abbadon doesn't want daemonhood, he wants humanity removed from the control of the Emperor.

Daemon princes are any shape and size, buto most will be far larger than a normal man or space marine as daemonic gifts tend to include size increases and mutations. It should be taken that Daemon princes that were once human/CSM have the general bulk of the current 40K DP model.

The rules in the previous CSM codex over-complicated and confused things with regards to any CSM Lord with over a certain number of daemonic gifts automatically counting as a daemon prince. Thats why that side of things was completely removed and redone in a much better way IMO.

I'm pretty sure that a daemon prince would at least have the organs of a standard space marine but if you think about it, nothing says that all of the gifts have to be exterior. Heck, if nurgle favors you, who knows what weird organs you might get.

well I imagine that there'll be no (or very few) Eldar Daemon Princes created post-fall but before then there's not much reason why there aren't a fair few- they do sort of have the time period advantage over humanity to get some of their champions ascended.

When it comes to chaos you can simply say it`s magic

Chaos twists and turns the material realm in such ways that it isn`t bound by physics anymore

That`s why you get limbs coming out of inanimate object... BUT THEY STILL WORK

Have you ever seen a CSM`s back pack sprout wings and fly?

Whatever is inside a DP it`s not bound by logic

Kinda like Phyrexian tech, it doesn`t have to make sense, it works because the gods will it
