Default Chaos Terminator army

So I just had an evil idea. I here many of those space marine players throw around the idea of an all terminator army (deathwing or a lysander force) and I was thinking why can't chaos do that? take two regular squads for troops and then 3 squads of 10 terminators. You could even up the ante by taking Obliterators for your heavy support choices. anyone have any input on this idea?

What next? Chaos Grey Knights?

In theory that setup should work...

But i`ve seen people use possesed and one squad of termies, termie lord and oblits... never two termie suqads

in apoc you can (thanks to my leaked datasheets)

if you get enough terminators to make 3k points, you don't even need to bother with ordinary CSM squads if you play an apoc battle

but then, your opponent will have access to his own tricks!

i say go for it! as long as it's sensible and not done simply to utterly and compleatly crush any opponent within 1 turn, then it's all fun and games in my book! (ie: please, please don't abuse lash of submission! we're sick of lash lists already...)

i think a well balanced list of just termies, oblits & perhaps a land raider would be an interesting force.

edit: damnit! now you've got me thinking about hw cool a word bearers terminator assault force would be! i can even see it now; 2 termie squads + flying possessed + daemons + land raider + oblits!
curse you for trying to lure me to ways of chaos!!!

cheers!

Well I'll soon be able to field three squads of 5 chaos terminators, so I'm half way there
Also, to get those invulnerable saves for every unit in the list, take two 5-man Icon of Tzeentch or Thousand Sons squads for the troops. (I'd choose Thousand sons just for the extra sorcerers).

for ur normal troops ,use some khorne bezerkers
then get 4 sqauds of terminators
3 oblits
and abbadon, otherwise u can just pile up 3k+ terminaotes in apocolypse(bad idea)

I was thinking a termie lord with mocu, and a personal icon. 3 ten man squads of terminators, 2 geared for a firefights: reapers and the combi-bolters, and a squad made for hth: heavy flamers and combi-flamers and lightning claws. 3 squads of 2 obliterators each, and 2 squads of regular chaos marines. Nothing fancy for the icons, just chaos glory. But now that I think about it the idea of thousand sons, with invulnerable save makes life interesting...

Berzerkers are nice, but the allure of Tzeentch, with its invulnerable save for everyone just makes the list evil. Talk about insult to injury, even the normal footsloggers are hard to kill. Hell If I really wanted to be bad, I could give everyone marks of Nurgle. All the terminators would be like mini characters, high toughness, awesome saves, cool weapons, and evil. Did I mention that this list idea is evil?

do it! you know you want to.

as tempting as the idea of an all chaos termie army is, sadly i've got about 5 other armies to finish first...

still though, a nurgle 'plaguewing' army would be sweet! you could use 2 small squads of plague marines for your troops choices, and then load up on termies, a dreadnought, oblits & perhaps a land raider?!

cheers!

Default The Plague Wing

Plaguewing, I like that. Very Nurgle. Maybe I will do this army. First though I need to finish my Iron Warriors, my Red Corsairs and of course my Devil Dogs. So the Nurgle terminator army will have to sit on the back burner and just plague my mind with modeling ideas.(no pun intended). I will make a sweet list and post it later though.

the thing i dislike about khorne is that they can be too good at killing! you want your termies to simply cripple the enemy when they charge - not out right destroy or chase them off... if you do that, then your termies are now stuck in the open holding large placards saying "please shoot us!"

if however you can stay locked in your opponent's turn, they then have one of two choices to make;
a) throw more men into the frey, lessening their shooting potential and likely losing even more men draging your termies down!
b) realise that the few survivors are going to die and spend their turn pulling nearby forces back out of termies assault range.
either way, you're looking at a win/win senario! nurgle termies are silly good at this ploy because of their T5! just protect that icon bearer at all costs and your termies can hold out against most enemy infantry.

cheers!

I agree with you, I would rather cripple a unit and force my emeny to make some major tactical decisions than utterly destroy the cannon fodder he throws at me and then become targets ourselves. Time to make a list....
