Default A different Kind of Thousand Son

I really like the new rules for the Thousand sons, and I really want to field a unit or two of them, but I hate the models and they would not fit in with my army fluff all that well...then I had an idea. Who said they have to be empty armored shells, couldn't they be traitor marines (I play red corsairs) that have been blessed with mutations by the dark gods. This could account for all their powers and abilities plus it would allow me to field them in my red Corsairs, and give me some cool models to make.

what are your thoughts on this, does anybody see any real problems if I do this?

I do.. It's fluff really..

The Thousand Sons are the Thousand Sons.. Period.. Using their rules anywhere else is just cheesy and weak.. It's just as simple to have a warband of 1k Sons working w/ the Corsairs (if you're so worried about fluff) and such than all of the stuff you mention.

Verdict: Don't do it.. It's a major fluff violation.

you can however, model them pre-heresy style, etc..

I agree with LC, just have a squad of 1kSons with a Sorcerer, since they control those with the Rubric, and they have been known to sell their services for personal gain. As for modeling, I like them all except the heads, so you could just change them.

I agree. It's one thing to give them the mark of tzeentch but entirely another to model regular marines and call them thousand son's. it's not right, and leave anybody that does that a bad taste in there mouth.

thanks for the input guys. I was leaning more towards adding a small warband of the sons to my army. I was looking at other avenues for the actual models mainly because I hate their heads, but I could model them as preheresy, and they would work just fine.

An idea for you

This is what I did for about half of my Thousand Sons, I think they look much better mixed in with the bigger head dresses.

Yes, just trim off the horns and put a bit of plasticard on the front. It's very easy really.
