Default I want to start Chaos!

I'm already sold on Khorne, but what to get?

I'm thinking of selling my 6k iron templars army for space marines to come up with the funds.

Lol yea mate, post pics and you'll likely sell them here ^^

Anyways, your the same as me ! Im no way a power gamer, so my army is just Khorne Khorne Khorne. I dont care much for fancy tactics.
What i got so far is lots of zerkers :P theyre awesome :P But apart from your chunk of zerkers you might need some shooting support. i didnt want to load up on havocs, so im using Obliterators for my armour hunting lol
Defilers too ^^ spec them either shooty/combat. the new fleet they got makes them even better for running in for CC

Iron Templars

Points- 5,624

Creed- “Iron faith, iron will”

Also to note, the models are not spectacular in any way, the most being "gameplay" standard. However, the sergeant of every squad i hand painted to perfection, the rest are sprayed and touched up nicley. The entire command squad is also painted to a higher level than gaming quality.

More when i get pics!, Oh! I also have another 10-man assault squad i didn't add, and a random wraithlord and furioso dreadnought.

For heavy support, I suggest a Pred Annihilator. Don't forget that Chaos termies can take a dedicated LR transport too. Defilers are nice. If your using a lot of Bezerkers and CC oriented termies, you really don't need a lot of antitroop HS, so load up on antiarmour weaponry.

Yeah i was thinking that, but the time to strip 120 or so models and 6 tanks to repaint is a large hassle.

Plus i like the whole look of chaos, and as far as things go I think a slaanesh and khorne army fits what i want quite well.

2 squads of noise marines to pin enemy units while 2+ Khorne crazy happy pill berzerkers run in with their lord who has a blissgiver.

That covers troops, as far as elites i'd go slaanesh terminators and the standard power weapon setup, maybe kit one with a chainfist.

Possessed, ah. JUST GOD AWFUL!

Daemon prince or sorceror, whichever is more flexible and give em the mark of the sex god.

Heavies may include some oblits with the mark of khorne, a predator or two.

Fast attack is Slaanesh raptors and slaanesh bikers of course.

I have been able to test this theory yet but it seems like turbo boosting the bikes on the first turn and then teleporting the terminators into assualt on the second turn from the back side of your enemies lines seem to be like a good idea.

espcially like the oblits for heavy support, but the vindicator's big boom stick seems like a great crowd pleaser. but I would diffently bring a defiler.

Is a defiler a heavy support?

If thats the case 3 of those dedicated with slaanesh or khorne can rip some tanks apart.

Just remember, you can't assault the turn you Deep Strike in. So if your DS termies, make them shooty, and put your CC oriented ones in a Land Raider. You could also use the bikes to screen your termies, because when you DS them, they will be a target, so you better have some cover or screeners. If you DS the termies the turn you TB, you get a 3+ Invunerable save, so I would suggest not DS them until then.

Man the new dex sucks and lacks customization!

Another thing i don't understand, is why the chaos lord can't take on special abilities that correspond to the troop choice of dedicated gods.

For example, plague marines have feel no pain and blight grenades, so why can't a lord, who has probably survived more campaigns than any other cult marine to reach his esteemed status can't also have blight grenades and feel no pain?

Alos the fact that lords cannot take retinues? Aren't they out for their own gain? If i wanted to achieve sometihng great i would surround myself with like minded individuals to take hits for me.

Give your lord a Mark. That gives them specialized abilities you want. Check pg. 92 of the dex under options for Chaos Lord. I used a retinue for Abbadon in the 3rd ed., but keep in mind that retinues bring down the stats of an Independent Character (I don't remember which ones, but I think Toughness and Iniative are two stats that go by majority). The new dex isn't that bad, I gripped alot when I first read it, but it really is more streamlined and easier to use than the 3rd ed.

Nah i've checked the dex, no lord can get any o the cult marine abilities.

Only +1 attack ala Khorne

+1 toughness via Nurgle

+1 Initiative from Slaanesh

Or an increased invulnerable save from the Tzeentch man.

None of which are worth the points seeing as though a chaos lord already has most of those except the useless 4 (5) toughness that doesn't confer saves from S8 weapons that insta kill.

Yeha but now any asswipe will use abaddon, there's no creativity now.

The lords are generic, the sorceror and daemon prince will always be abused with the lash.

cult marines are far better than any dedicated chaos marines.

Thousand sons are OP to the max, now people will run 120 thousand sons when they get the money because of force weapons and Ap 3 bolters.

Seriously now what is GW dicking around with us for?
