| Hey, a while ago, I got this idea for a chaos army, who are traitor marines from the 40th, not 30th, millienum. E.g., a Space Marine chapter that had modern tech, but less daemon stuff. Some ideas would include: You can only have one mark in your army (can't have a mark of khorne AND a mark of Nurgle in one army). All units with marks (other than HQ's) are elites. You have access to stormbolters and assault cannons and infantry plasmacannons, and such. Daemons are elite choices only. You can only have daemons that are aligned with the Mark that your army has (or any one Chaos God if you don't have any marks). Whaddaya think?

| Primer ![]() | or even better ... how about a cross breed chapter ..part chaos part ork ...ie you find a better weapon clutched in the hand of the deadmarine you just blew in half by stuffing a krak grenade down his throat ... reach down ..pickup said weapon and flippin use it.... I could never understand why in ten thousand years not a single chaos marine terminator ever figured out a stormbolter is better than a combi bolter..obviously chaos termis are smarter..after all..they are chaos..maybe they are just concerned about getting loyalist blood all over their cool warp influenced paint scheme more to the point of the post though .... this does address a need ..after all there are more recent traitors ..those lovely little piratical goons ..the corsairs..if my fluff trivia is correct they turned sometime mid 30th millenia and they continue to get fresh recruits ..so why are they stuck with stone age guns? and .. why limit deamons?... time flows differently in the Warp.. in the Eye why wouldn't you be able to recruit enough deamons?

| The Idea is sound, If I were you I would concern myself with fulfilling the fluff and finishing it out before worrying about rules. once you have the Fluff down and firm you can start thinking about how the army performs in the field and what roles individual units need to be able to play. If your looking at SMs from the 40th millennium you should keep them loyalists otherwise your just playing strait chaos (all be it with limited daemonic resources). you could still use the chaos list to represent what you are calling future weapons. (ie Bloodletters being Deepstriking Assault Marines w/ Power weapons and improved armor, Possessed can be used similarly to represent true veterans) Marks could be used to play the role of Doctrines, don't forget veteran skills (Look at some of the cult armies like Night Lords or Iron Warriors, they make great templates for starting ideas and make sure to remember that their fluff isn't yours but the rules might fit well) |
