Was the Defiler built using a captured STC datasheet? Are they any loyalist chapters that will use captured Daemon weapons? (I think the Revilers do, but not sure)

Im not sur eon eithe rof them matters DK
but as to the daemon weapon, i wouldnt like to think so, but if they did it would be cool as they would be beaten up/exiled if not destroyed and they can join us !!! mwhahahahaha
its hard enough for a dedicated CSM to weild a daemon weapon so im not sure how a loyalist would use one effectively :\

I don't think Defilers were buit with a datasheet. I they were ordered into production by Abaddon himself.

But where did they acquire the technology and facilities to build them? Didn't some of the Adeptus Mechanicus on Mars turn during the Heresy?

thats right, in fact more than half turned, they were to become the Dark Mechanicus.

and no, the defiler isn't an STC, it is an entirely new combo of mechanics and daemon summoning. Abbadon comisioned it, but i don't recall hearing where the inspiration came from

I'd have to imagine the Dark Mechanicus were heavily involved. But it was Abaddon's idea.

I remember reading somewhere that the Defiler was based on the Dreadnought in principle. And that one of the Greatest Tech Marines to work with Dreads was commissioned to work on the Defiler.

Until I can find my source for this though please feel free to tell me to shut the hell up

Yeah, it's basically a big, Daemon possessed Dread. Any ideal who the Techmarine was? I want to know more about the Dark Mechanicus! Did they build the Chaos Titans, or just take them with them when they turned?

They do/did both. Read "Dark Mechanicus" (2nd Grey Knights book). It's good.

If I can ever get my hands on it, I will. Can anyone get me a pic of the Dark Mechanicus? Do you think anyone has done an actual tabletop army of them?

Correction on the book title: "Dark Adeptus" by Ben Counter.

As for a picture, I couldn't find any, but I would assume they look like normal Adeptus, but perhaps slightly daemonic. The Adeptus Mechanicus don't really have much in the way of fleshy limbs to mutate...

As for an army, well, Adeptus Mechanicus armies are rare in the first place, let alone a Dark Mechanicus one. If you were to make one, or some units, just give them some daemonic properties, perhaps invulnerable saves, or rending, or something. Maybe include a daemon in the unit.

Maybe at some point I will give it a try. I'd have to learn a lot more about them though. Maybe I should post that I'm thinking of building a small force of them, and see if I can get some help?

I'd like to know a little more fluff on Obliterators, as they are so unique to Chaos. Anyone know when they first appeared?
