Default Know No Fear

Just wondering why CSM don't have the And They Shall Know No Fear rule. They are SM after all.

other than to give SM an advantage over them...because unlike the loyalist Adeptus Astartes the traitors don't look to the Emperor's guidance for direction (or something to that effect, im ill and tired so i may not make sense).

It seems to me that they would all CSM would have the Fearless rule then, the reason I ask is a played a battle the other day and one of my CSM tac squads was cut down by some Necron Warriors using the Sweeping Advance.

aha! The CSM are not dedicated to a greater 'good' like the Imperial SM are. In fact the CSM fight for their own benefit, and where's the benefit in last stands when your certain to die?

A Space Marine would willingly throw his life away if ordered conversely meaning he's harder to eliminate as he doesn't fear death whereas a Traitor only has the endless torments of the Warp waiting for him when he dies so he probably wouldn't be too eager to take his last breath any time soon.

Hmmm. So the only way I can avoid this is to make all my Black Legion dedicated to one of the four gods...

I'm gonna have a bunch of god dedicated units eventually anyway. So right now I'll be sure to kill his Necron Lord (btw, don't feel bad, my friend had 15 warriors with the lord and killed my DP, but not before he cut down 10 of them.)

give them the Icon of Chaos Glory (Chaos Undivided) so they get morale re-rolls, if they break then its still not as good as ATSKNF but it does mean with their average Ld 9 coupled with the re-roll that they are less likely to break in the 1st place.

also you add an aspiring champ to the unit for Ld10... that and a re-roll is pretty much fearless!

just make sure you 'hide' your champ and icon bearer towards the back of your unit to stop them from being sniped by cunning players who are really ace with their range-finding skills!

cheers!

Quick question. If I do have an Aspiring Champion in a tac squad (all of mine do) do I use Ld 9 (the majority) or his Ld 10 for the morale check? Also, would the Icon Bearer still have 2 CCW? This confuses the heck out of me, especially for Termies. Can I just mount a small icon on the back of the termie, or does he have to be holding it?

leadership doesn't follow the majority rule, it goes by highest leadership, assuming there is nothing to stop that higher leadership being used, such as Celuxus/pariah special rules.

you always use the unit's highest base Ld, then apply any modifiers to it! (for example; the aformentioned culexus/pariahs, out-numbered in assault, below 50% starting strength, etc...)

as for the icons, it can be as simple as say hanging it from the model's belt or slaping a spare loyalist sergeant's banner onto your model and giving it a suitably chaotic look/paint job!
icons are not weapons so no, they don't rescrit the number of weapons you carry/use at any given time!

cheers!
