Right, so I'm making a small LATD army for Apoc. I plan on 3 squads of infantry and 3 tanks. My question is what type of tank should I use? Should I go with 3 Russ (that would give me some long range shooting, which I'm kinda lacking) or maybe the shorter range Russ (for the life of me I can't remember the name), but I already have plans for a Chaos Vindy. Anyhoo, just looking for some ideals.

if you're short on long range firepower, then 3 russes would probably put you out of that predicament. in my opinion, any time you can take a russ and have it not be the only tank in your army, you should try and take it.
i believe the shorter ranged one is called a demolisher. though i could be wrong the armor they have might be better than the vindy's, i can't be sure though.

Well the Demo tank have shorter but stronger weapons like the demo cannon and their side weapons (meltas and plasma cannons) plus have great armor. Then again the regular russes have like 3x the range of demo tanks. All depens on you. Why not 2 Russes and a Demo?

The more I think about that setup, the more I like it. Maybe I should just build another squad and take 3 Russ and 1 Demo? The good thing about the LATD is almost all their infantry can infiltrate. That gives me a good lot of meatshield for my Black Legion (not to mention sniper rifles, hehehe).

for apocalypse games, just build them up as a proper imperial/traitor guard force! then you can take the special formations such as the russ tank squadron and basilisk battery!
not the mention the full infantry company or the emperor's talon recon group... or how about the ogryn (aka: big mutant!) platoon?!!

besides, there's nowhere near enough traitor guard armies out there... it's a welcome change to see the odd one that does pop up and it makes for far more entertaining games as you can really get into the narrative of loyalist vs traitor actions!

3 russes, and use some hellhammer it got a big meaty hell canno 10str on the front

they better be allies for a much larger chaos army, thorwise dont bother. th horrifying templates that will be floating around APOC will do away with any mutants/infantry/zombies you can think of. even a predator destructor is lethal to LatD (i know from being on the receiving end of one, many times...) and theyre desperately lacking anti tank of their own which is really essential in APOC

if youre planning on just traitors and tanks, youll be better off using codex: imperial guard + a baneblade or plaguereaper or brass scorpion.

and also keep in mind you can still infiltrate most/all of your infantry by taking the 'light infantry' doctrine as well! (though infiltrate is far less usefull in apocalypse games...)

yep! use what ever list you want and call it 'traitor'... there's literally thousands of regiments throughout the imperium's long history who have fallen to chaos for one reason or another.

Yeah, combining traitor guard with Chaos is an excellent ideal. The opportunity for kick *** conversions are numerous. I already have a few Catachans and Cadians, so I'm not sure exactly what direction I'm gonna go with IG. I like Armored Company just because of all the tanks. Holy smokes, I can use Basiliks too! If I don't watch, my traitor guard will outnumber my BL! How awesome would traitor DKOK be! Those FW Renegade Orgryn are looking better and better.

*by the way, should I just go ahead with a traitor guard thread, since I'm not really interested in LATD as much?*

best bet is to start a new thread though... easier to ask for opinions and such as i think alot of people have kinda forgotten what the 'lost and the damned' list is/was.
