if you think traitors suck "period" there is a reason. if you didnt have a reason then you wouldnt hate them or think they suck. you wouldnt even think about them. oh and no it didnt take me very long to think up my question to you romulas. i understood that the original question was coming from someone who wants to know more about the chaos forces (which yes there are still legions, chapters weren't created until after HH so chaos never broke down into them) to either pick one to play or one to stay away from, so the best way 'we' as other 40k players/fans can help is to give our opinion and reasons. i never said your opinion was wrong or bad or anything like that. its your opinion and you are entitled to it. i simply asked why you had that opinion. yes i agree with romulas that the player makes the army more than the codex. if the player knows the army and strategies that work best for that army and can make use of them they will be strong even with a "weak" race or what ever. and the other side is that a player who doesnt know thier army and the strategies that best suit it will be weak even with a "strong" one. thats the main reason that i take time to work with newer players (new to game or new to a particular army) to help them understand what thier army is capable of and what they are doing well, poorly and what some possible solutions are before, during and after games.

nope. i know i win roughly 70% of the time or so. i like changing my lists up and trying different things. especially now since i've had to change up my chaos list with the 4th ed codex release. i've been working mostly on my old 1000 sons list which with the changes is quite nice. and i'm still tinkering around with my iron hands and eldar. haven't figured out exactly what i'm gonna do with all my Iron warriors as there aren't rules for them anymore. oh and starting to build a small nid force so there really isn't much of a point in it for me. the only way i keep track lately is that i play in the local 40k escalation league and i've moved up twice and maintained my spot. if i get challenged i've won all those games so far however when i make a challege to move up further i either draw or lose so i stay put. ah tzeentch is such a fickle god....  do you?? oh and just a suggestion but check up on some of your fluff as well. not all chaos turned on thier brothers. 1000sons were turned on by THIER brothers when magnus attempted to warn the emperor about horus. granted he hadnt listened to the emperors restriction on what to study but his intentions were good. the emperor turned the space wolves loose on them and the 1000 sons were being crushed by them until magnus THEN gave himself to chaos and tzeentch took them all away. so your statement is not entirely correct. and there are "loyalist" sm who disobeyed the emperor too. which leads into the iron warriors. these are my 2 fav choas legions for fluff reason. other turned of free will, some had no choice (fulgrim) and yes some turned for payback. since we're ot anyways what army is your fav and why? and yes i really do want to know the why. @ wakim - "I just don`t like the idea of members of one species being modified and cotroled by another species (even if it is from another plain of existence) and turned against their own species" what about imperials? they modify servitors, servo skulls (always human skulls) and others and force them to do what they say even if its to turn on other humans (heretics, mutants etc). and there is A LOT of fluff that shows this. so wouldn't that mean you dont like imperial forces also? (ig, inquistorial, sm, sisters) anyways everyone have a  or 2

| Good job on keeping the discussion on a nice light tone. It sounds as though some people have gotten their underpants in a twist because "all traitors suck", but you have managed to keep your responses coherent. My personal favorite is the Thousand Sons. I originally started the army because I was told they were difficult to win with, but I only managed to get in one game with them before the new codex came out. My Word Bearers are now toast, since I had 75 Daemons to choose from. My 1k Sons are just sick now, I am getting another box and picking up another Rhino for them because they are so sick. I also really like the color scheme, although their primarch being Magnus the Red seems kind of stupid. Why did GW choose blue and yellow for a dude with a name like that? @ all the people up in arms over the Traitors: In the fluff, the Emperor's homies sacrifice a ridiculous amount of people to keep him alive, they lay waste to entire planets on the rumour of Choas, and basically treat everything and everyone as either good or bad. While telling everyone that they know better so just fall in line. Kinda sounds like a really nasty dude from Germany a few wars back. At least the "traitors" know who and why they're all Chaosy.

Blog Entries: 1 | if you can check out wd issue # 266. it has the index astartes article for 1000 sons. thier pre-heresy colors were red with white or gold trim. so magnus the red did fit at the time but since hh they changed. tzeentch likes to do that to things  .

| He was called "the Red" because of his hair not armor color was fiery red he we a giant red haired cyclops but why know about your own guys huh? it just takes 15 min to read up on your own army. my favorite are marines real marines Still loyal to the God- Emperor ive recently after 15 years of playing mostly marines and orks have started a tau army I thought I finally needed a new start of learning a new army

Grip is asking for specifics, which in fairness is what this thread is all about; specific reasons why you think a particular legion sucks. You know why you prefer regular SM to Chaos, he doesn't. Maybe its because you've always played SM and chaos never interested you, personally, I don't care. As for magnus, yeah flaming red hair, but cyclops is a bit extreme. Better off to call him deformed, since the other eye never really developed. Magnus was a giant librarian with about as much interest in warfare as ant has in reaching pluto.

| Alpha Legion are getting a lovely story written about them- its called Legion and will be out in March sometime...I CANT BLOODY WAIT. | OK so here's what I KNOW about Magnus the red...he had ONE eye...the art is never right ...the fluff and background for the 1K sons say that Magnus had one eye centered in his face...never even mentions a second eye or a damaged eye...so...enough of the OT stuff... I have never lost to the Traitor armies I have played...lost to Orks once but have a disdain for traitors in general...just because they are Traitors...they turned on their own, something about that just hits a deepseated cord with me and makes for bad karma...which is why my own Chaos army never got far enough to play with...
