Blog Entries: 1  |  Slaanesh Icon for Raptors I need some ideals. I don't wanna use the pole and icon that comes with the new CSM box. I want it kinda small. Maybe use a combat shield and the Slaanesh vehicle icon. Someone post some pics of parts I could use! I've got three to build, so I need ideals quickly.

| Re: Slaanesh Icon for Raptors i have two suggestions from this model: Games Workshop Online Store — Mounted Slaanesh Lord (1 figure) obviously the banner, but also - the shield he carries has the symbol for Slaanesh on it (although you may struggle to get hold of just that bit) - it could count as both an icon and a hand weapon - possibly

It's silly that you have to sacrifice a raptors' effectiveness to carry a crappy icon that looks blasphemous in the hands of a creature built for speed. Just picture canonically how stupid that would look. I suppose a simple slaanesh mark and not icon would suffice on the model. Who's going to argue? The dex' is so ambigious no one would question it.

Just a mark of slaanesh on a raptor is NOT an icon. There are units who bear a mark of slaanesh in the codex. Those are Noise Marines, not raptors. The 'dex isn't ambigious at all actually. It says the Raptors may carry an ICON and Noise Marines carry the MARK... However, this is not to say the Icon HAS to be a banner. That was never the case. It could be as simple as some sort of weapon on of of the people (a particularly nasty weapon w/ the Mark of slaanesh, a book w/ it, etc..). A religious icon isn't always a banner, now is it? However, an Icon as such as the codex is referring to it is MORE than a simple mark. IT is an ICON, a RELIC of the faith the traitors profess. Put it this way.. the 'mark of catholicism' could be the ashes on the forehead at Ash Wednesday or the oil when you are confirmed/baptised. But, the ICON(S) of Catholicism is a cross, or a bible or such. Maybe that makes the reasoning a bit more clear? In the end, the Codex states it clearly. They are ultimately your models to do with as you please, but if you make your 'icon' just a painted on mark, expect flak and criticism, and don't whine about it. It's what happens.

| Re: Slaanesh Icon for Raptors Now see the problem with that is, though they have definition, a icon could be considered an mark of your devotion, in that instance anyways. But I'm sure no one would question such an insignificant detail, I know i wouldn't. As long as something on the model represents slaanesh, it is marked/iconed to me. Even emperors children, are not all noise marines so i can see the plight with that. An icon can be a symbol that one recognizes, not limited to objects. A mark is on the body, an icon can be on the body, though not a giant banner, it could be a gem on the shoulderpauldron as long as THAT is your designated icon bearer. (and you state to avoid confusion) And the ambiguity of the new dex isn't that what i was speaking of, its the layout and limits upon the customization that set my lord from others, that the organization is confusing the first time around.

Especially if you do up a melta gunner/melta pistol style marine with it! I think Chaos Raptors can still even wield plasma (perfect! i'd want a shield if I had one of those!)
