Default What God?

Well, let's see. I guess I should start from...the middle! No, beginning is easier.

I've written a great deal to do with the Storm Marines etc. now, and part of it is based around a Night Stalkers Company turning to Chaos. I'm not too sure which God to use though.

Also, I'm going to be making them into an army, so yeah.

I'm leaning towards Nurgle, but Slaanesh is also appealing. Any opinions?

I like slaanesh.
and Khorne cause he likes red.
Undivided because they like black.
the last two for only color reasons.
Overall still Slaanesh.

and lmao you said he/she/it/whatever was appealing

perhaps dig into the "lesser" or "other" chaos gods. I dont know too much about them so i cant really help ya there.

the Night Stalkers sound much more stealth and such... Slaanesh is a good ally there.

It isn't so much subtle or sneaky as it is lightning fast attacking, IIRC

*cough*

Icarus, would you be so kind as to share a little more insight on your army`s fight style? or recent course of events?

Nightstalkers were sneaky bastards and it`s hard to sneak about when you like regurcitated rodekill or when you keep running and shouting or when you can`t stop touching yourself

I can only thing of Tzeench, just because the Thousand Sons turned out the way they did doesn`t mean all Tzeench followers are like that

But than again, it`s your chapter

If you like the way Nurglers fight, go with Papa.

Okay then.

The Storm Marines are a radically different Chapter, despite being founded with Ultramarine gene-seed.

They have a different Chapter structure, which can be found in the Space Marine's section...somewhere. Each of their companies utilises a different tactic, meaning that specialists from different companies can be used on different occasions.

The Night Stalkers...well, they're a whole different kettle of fish. The Night Stalkers is the name of the Storm Marine's elite. The Night Stalkers (refered to as a Strike Force) are made up of the best from every company, and headed up by the 1st Captain (Occasionally the Chapter Master takes charge, but more often than not he doesn't). They utilise the truely favoured tactics of the Storm Marines, guerrilla warfare. They are quick, decisive, and, unless they're attacking you, near invisible.

This particular Company was the Strike Force deployed to counter a surge in cult activity just prior to the 13th Black Crusade. The Strike Force crushed the cult activity along with the 101st Kelnite Imperial Guard Regiment. They then hooked up with the 12th Kelnite and General Eisenhower, and were deployed to the frontline during the 13th BC.

The rest, they say, is not going to be included here because it will come in a fluff series I will begin posting soon. But you get the general idea of what they are.

Ok...

If you want them to keep their traits postcorruption... i really don`t think either khorn or Papy would favor them

I know i shouldn`t double post... but it`s been 2 weeks so it shouldn`t count

Anyway, Icarus Athrasuriel, if you, for some odd reason, didn`t choose a god yet, i hold my case, go Tzeench!!!

My guest, Karazantor would like to add a few words:

Do not ask which creature screams in the night,
Do not question who waits for you in the shadow,
It is my cry that wakes you in the night,
And my body that crouches in the shadow.
I am Tzeentch and you are the puppet
That dances to my tune.
- Karazantor the Vile, The Traitor of Xian

Cheers!

Before I state my opinion on this, let me just say that I always recommend Nurgle for everything.

That said, I think Undivided would be best for neaky Marines. I don't think any of the four colors lend themselves to stealth at all, really. You will smell Nurgle and see things rotting around you. Thousand sons are just ghosts in their armour that can' really learn skills like stealth (although you might say that a sorcerer aids the whole stealth thing with spells, but I think that's kinda like cheating). Slaanesh likes loud noises that take them to the next level of audio-potence, and of course there's the disturbing moans and screams from... being Slaanesh... And Khorne, well, charging headfirst and screaming "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!" does not help you avoid detection.

Undivided, however, is where Legions like the Alpha Legion and Night Lords are, and they're good at stealth. So that's where I'd go with the Storm Marines. Just remember that it's given that I vote for Nurgle first.

Heh, while khorne doesn't lend himself to stealth, sending the berserkers in screaming with chainaxes does serve as a nice distraction for the troops sneaking around behind enemy lines. As the enemy looks outwards they are oblivious to the more insidious threats within.

Indeed. I've decided on having my army commanded by a Chaos Sorceror w/ Mark of Tzeentch (As it is within keeping of my fluff) and everyone else undivided (Unless I can be sneaky and give Aspiring Champions the Mark of Tzeentch without giving it to their squad)

well sorc with mark of tzeentch does get 4+ inv save as well as being able to take up to three psychic powers (and bolt of change rocks) hell, I'd be tempted to give him a jump-pack and have him terrorize the the board altogether...else give him a bike for the extra toughness...

yeah i was gonna say if you have to have a specific god zeench made the most sence with the lil bit of background you gave us, but undevided would seem the best fit all around. though nobody tends to use an undevided lord. good luck and keep us informed on how it works out.

You're generalizing in a horrible way here - just because Ahriman messed up his entire Legion and turned them into empty armour suits doesn't mean that every single Tzeentchian worshipping army of CSM is the same.

Nope, you can't. Codex doesn't work that way.

True. Sorry.

But I still think Undivided would be best. I just don't see the major chaos powers being all that sneaky.

You could have them unaligned, or is that not an option in the new codex?
