Definitely Red gore. I like the darker color for word bearers. You can do any color you want for the metal, really. Traditional is Mithril silver, but I think boltgun metal, and even a smattering of shining gold would be good. As for eyes, yeah globlin green is good. Or a yellow or orange.

Oh dear dear dear.. Word Bearers and conversions? My son, the possibilities are endless. The green eyes are a good idea, and the red gore is as well, though I prefer boltgun metal over mithril silver, as it looks more muted. However, the same effect can be achieved with mithril silver and clever black in washing.

Make sure to go over your armor with a nice wash of ink, usually black to darken it. Word bearers also tend to look cooler with horned helms, for some reason. I think it is the contrast in colors.

For your Lord and converting him, it depends. As it stands right now, what bits do you have on him already, or have accesible? Is he off an Imperial Chaplain (these work surpisingly well)? Chaos lord? What kind of sidearm, etc..? I can easily say the best ideas i've seen for an accursed crozius involve an actual chaplains crozius (one of the darker, more skull themed) with plasticard, discarded spru, and vehicle accesory spikes to make a sort of eight pointed star cage around it. Think DoW dark crusade and the Chaos Campagin here and you'll understand. Also, if you have the skill for it, using a pen or painting script onto your Dark Apostles scalp (if you have a non-helmeted one) is something I suggest. I've seen some done like the lightning on night lords armor, with the barest of black lines (the runes looked glowing) and it was utterly awesome! The idea for the script is drawn from the fact that Pre-Heresy Word Bearers Chaplains (Post Heresy Dark Apostles) had script from the Book of Lorgar tatooed on their flesh, and because the head is the easiest way to represent that on the model.

I also have an article i've been preparing on several conversions for a pre-heresy Word Bearers army that could be EASILY ported out to Chaos. I'll dig through my old comp and post them up here later. My first actual army was Word Bearers, so if you have any questions or want any more help, feel free to pester me off forums. I've got quite a bit of dirt on them!

much appreciated guys and i shall not hesitate to annoy you to the point of suicide lord commander erus black legion gold and black didnt stand out for me and world eaters might have been bit tricky with their rules. But haivng playing dark crusade they really caught my eye. My conversion would be to create logars helmet as seen in dark crusade for my choas lord ( when i aqquire one) and converting a daemon prince into lorgars daemonhood form

( i also have an unpainted un-assembled abaddon the despoiler if his armour, sword excetera might help?)
