speaking from a background point of view, most word bearer marines don't really fight in assaults if they can help it - they use daemons as shock troops and fodder for that while they pummel the enemy! the possessed fit in nicely to the whole 'daemonic' aspect, but honestly you really should get a unit of daemons in there... or to put it another way - lots of daemons is the advantage of the word bearers... it's just silly not to take advantage of it! having at least 2-3 units of daemons can really keep an opponent off balance as they'll be constantly wondering when and where the evil gribblies are going to appear! cheers!

| yea this definatly needs some works just a note on general structure-it helps to list things in HQ, elites, troops, FA, and HS like it is in codexes. also, listing the points for the entire unit (NOT individual upgrades) is good. lord-way to expensive. deamonic speed is much better then flight (6'' move + fleet BUT 12'' charge) stature with dreadaxe is the best combo chains on anything other then deamonhost is useless plasma pistol on ICs arent good, because an unlucky 1 can take him out rhino-i agree with stichs advice. too expensive for a non-scoring thing 10 man squad-lascannons arent good on them. it will be wasted as she said 8 man-what stitch said 6 man-add more men! these guys are going to be the ones slogging it through enemy fire. theyre going to be hit, and hit hard. i play khorne, ive had lots of experiance with this =D i would add more men and a rhino. with deamons, you can jump these guys out and assault with some warpy pals 2nd, 3rd turn. infiltrate would also work, and you wouldnt be stuck in the rhino and be forced to use some other icon rather then them. possesed-what stich said (yet again =D) predetor and havoks-theres a concept called economy of force. with these types of units, make them specialized. for the havocks, all missle launchers. then they can lay down 3-5 blast markers, probrobly covering the whole unit, or 5 kraks at 1 tank. lose the asp. champion and add tank hunters. ML are more effective because if you want to go anti-tank, the HB are useless. anti-infantry: lascannons useless (or overkill) with the predetor, i would go autocannon and heavy bolters. lots of anti-infantry to lay down lots of support fire. Thoreau once said "simplify simplify simplify." i learned this lesson and i learned it well when i played tyranids. ive since expanded it to all of my armies. while upgrade may look flashy and nice, dont wig out on them! get your numbers up before you start kitting out your big squads. you think "well my lord can use all of these!" *buy buy buy buy buy* and its 250 points for a deamon prince that is going to get shot the @#$! up by every lascannon on the table. more later. |

| ok. back now. before you spend points on upgrades, fill out your squads. for example, when calculating your list first add in the points for the plain marines. then fill in the rest of the points with things like wargear and other stuff. when you really need something, drop a marine for a meltagun or whatever. but dont drop 2 many or you'll end up with....a 6 man assault squad. i would drop the retinue and their rhino entirely. spend those points on another CSM squad. give your aspiring champions one 'special' weapon, like a power fist OR plasma pistol, or something like that. |
