Word Bearers Rules Update! NEED HELP!

In Addition To This Thread: Word Bearers

I was thinking that something along the lines of ASP Champs. needed updated:

Apostate (Taken instead of Asp Champion) for +30 points (this taks into account the cost of the asp champion)

Bolt Pistol, Bolter, Power Armor, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades


Demagauge: The unit that the Apostate leads may re-roll failed morale and pinning tests.

Dark Crozius: Power Weapon. Counts as a Personal Icon for the Apostate.

i like the weapon, though wont it just be simpler to make the dark crozius a wargear item specific mto WB asp champions than go through the hassle of make a new squad leader variant?

jus a thought. at the end of the day theyd work very similar!

The only ones who carry dark crozius' are the apostles guys........

yeah, just like the chaplains.... but even SM's have several layers of chappys. this is like an adjunct. Chappy in training. their crozius is not cursed as of yet, just a dark crozius.....

like a lesser chaplain.

I would not call it that Steve, my only reason being that the only way to receive a crozius is to be presented one by the dark council and only when elevated to status of Dark Apostle!

Something along those lines! Oh, and aspiring Dark Apostles are Acolytes just so you know!

Also, the demagogue ability doesnt do much for the word bearers units as all of the marines automatically get to re-roll failed morale checks. They have the mark of chaos undivided, which has the same affect as the icon of chaos glory, but it is a mark and all members of the unit have it.

Gent, i know fluff wise that they do, but rules wise they do not.

and i'm trying to make them compatible with the current C:CSM. so they have to have the icons as there are no Word Bearers in there.

Peronally I don't think that all apostates or Vet Sergeants/champions should be allowed to all have improved stats and a warped Crozius.

Instead, maybe take this for example?

Tainted Apostate/ Aspiring Apostate / Warped Orator

WS 5 BS 4 S4 T4 W1 I4 A2 Ld9 Sv3+

Wargear- Bolt pistol, Frag grenades, Power weapon.

Options- May replace Bolt pistol for Plasma pistol at +X pts.

May take Melta bombs at +X pts.

May take Krak Grenades at +X pts.

May replace power weapon for Warped Crozium at +X pts.

Warped Crozium: The symbol of the swaying power of words and chaos incarnate, official badge of honor to Word Bearer Demagogue apprenticeship. It is treated as a power weapon and confers a 5+ invulnerable save in addition to increasing the bearers leadership to 10.


they can also pay for a mark like any other squad, in which case the Apostle would have a 4+ invul for Tzeentch, T5 ala Nurgle, A3 + 2 ala Khorne and I5 per Slaanesh.
