it is when they're going to 5th edition whilst armies are still playing w/ 3rd edition rules. And by you saying Space Wolves are just a sub, well your Black Guardians and such were Ulthwe, and that's just a sub.. So why bellyache over them?

I'm sorry to soudn heated, but it's utter bull **** to advance another edition when two armies (one a major army) are so far behind in rules and models.

You do realise they could pull the same stunt they did with the Blood Angels, don`t you?

Launching a codex now and have the rules change in one year would be even worse for an army that didn`t have an update in ages won`t be that nice

People will build armies and see they have to change them rather fast :P

Wakim has a valid point, which brings us round to the fact that they're bringing this out so soon after releasing several codices.

IF they`re really launching the 5th edition soon (notice the big "if") I say we should look at the chaos and ork dex`s for things that won`t be removed

All in all, I like 4th ed., but assault needs some simplyfing, and vechiles need to be able to fire on the move. A tank's greatest strength is it's mobility, but the current rules kinda take that away. Here's to spending more money on armies that will probably never be finished!

Yes, but I preferred the 4 th ed anyway! I did panic before hand though. Space Wolves are a sub, as much as Ulthwe are, but Ulthwe dont have there own dex and never have done.

I'm not getting at anyone, I'm trying to ease the panic, as it wont be that bad when it comes. The newer Dex's coming out are so balanced I dont think it matters which ruleset you use with them, 4th or 5th, yes there ar a few desperate dex updates needed, Space Wolves being one, but as I said it will still come at the same time regardless of 5th ed or not.

The relevence of them coming out with this ruleset is non existant in my book as the main rules are going to be better under 5th I'm sure.

The thing is I understand the frustration, our Eldar dex was way over due when it came out, all I'm saying, is 40K is ever evolving and as such is never going to please everyone all of the time at certain points.

And yes they should at least do a White Dwarf Dex for SW and DE just to tie them over.

But you still don`t know for sure if the 5th will come out before the DE Dex :P

Exactly! But rumours are strongly pointing at this year! And of course GW are going to deny as they wont want to put people off buying 4th ed for now!

How many times has stitch been wrong?

When stitch says something, its usually confirmed (because the person from whom she has gotten her info has "allowed" her to share this info...)

There are a few codexes that are still running off their 3rd edition:

Witch Hunters
Daemon Hunters
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Space Wolves
Imperial Guard

But thats it, and with the way the new codexes have been written hinting at them being compatible with future rule changes I wont worry too much if those armies aren't done by the time 5th edition rolls around (if it does appear close to summer time) because they WILL get done, and only the Tau, Space Marines, and Tyranids would need an update as well what with the other armies already being 'finished' (even then the 'Nids and Tau would only need a very minor update at worst)

Think of it this way. Would you rather have a 4th ed Space Wolf codex, and then have them release 5th edition, or would you rather wait a bit longer and have a 5th edition Space Wolf Codex and a 5th edition rulebook?

And what about Cities of Death? It was published in 2006...so do you guys think it will be carried over to 5th edition, or will it become obsolete?

Unless the rules for moving and cover are radically changed in 5th edition I think it should carry over.

Quite simple. They should have made all the 4th edition codexs, then went to 5th edition. With the changes supposedly being so slight as to not notice codex wise (though I know they'll make new ones, money hungry bastards)... Why not make them first anyway?

totally. every time a new rule set is rumoured for release some people feel the need to go all drama queen and threaten to sell up everything and quit the game. sorry if that offends anyone, but it's the way i see it. then once they have had the chance to look at the new book they always, invariably, say that it's much better than the old one and just get on with the game.

i do see what's being said about the oldest codex's though, would have been nice to have had them before 5th ed. but we can hope that they'll be the first ones updated under the new system right?

And if they don`t give us squats then at least they should introduce Demiurge minis
