yea but you know as well as i do Big E
when they raise the price on the starter or "boxed" sets
then the general price hike is not to far behind
GW been playing this game for the last 16+ years ive been involved
im not saying its for sure but....
in the past its kind of trickled in
next thing you know a tactical squad is $35

know what i mean?

IIRC the starter sets get a slight hike because we lose money with them... think about it; the battle for skull pass contains;
- 3 regiments of night goblins; ($45/each)
- 10 spider riders; ($45)
- 1 troll; ($25)
- 1 shaman; ($7)
- 1 warboss; ($7)
- 1 dwarf lord; ($16)
- 12 warriors; ($40'ish)
- 8 miners; ($20'ish)
- 10 thunderers; ($40'ish)
- 1 great cannon ($35)
so that's a total of roughly $345 or so worth of models alone!!! add on top of that the rulebook, dice, templates... you can see why we lose out! (which makes it even funnier when people ***** about the current $75 dollars being too expensive!)

cheers!

i love the low price on the intial sets
most of the men i have are from different army box "deals"
but it kills me when they slip in the price raise on the squad and single vehicle boxes
with this 5th ed set coming out and new dexes
that means they are gonna repackage current items and put a higher price on em
its a vicious cycle
*sobs sadly*
but i will pay the price
im an addict

I wonder if they'll include several types of styles for the commander to be unique, I liked that sergeant from the Battle For Macragge but it just losts its appeal when You started with a bolt pistol and CC wep.

This Coomander should come with several options, body styles and the ability to mount him on a bike or give him a JP. That (though unlikely as it may be) would be awesome for someone to start with.

Personally, I switched all of my sergeants and higher ranked marines to use bits form the commander sprues.

I still don't see where anywhere they said they would raise any prices on anything but starter sets... So until then, lets not gripe or grouse too much. GW might be getting smart finally.

i know they didnt say they were gonna raise the prices
but they will
no right away but remember we are on the verge of a new edition and that always requires reboxing current line and releasing new lines
with new prices
theyve done it the llast several editions
im sure they will do it again
know what i mean?

I sort of agree with Romulas.

GW promised that they wouldn't raise prices for 5 years (which is amazing in of itself) but they've, understandably, done so for this starter set. But since they've already broken their promise whats to stop them from raising everything else?

I have had offers of $35 for 3 complete sets of BFSP Dwarves on Bartertown. Does anyone have a better offer?

We need to remember that the cost of fuel ($100+ per barrel of oil) has increased the price of all plastic models (not just GW). In the US, at this time, gasoline is $3.50 a gallon. Plastic is produced from oil. My company has had to increase prices by 50% in the last year (We make styrene sheet and pvc pipe), because of the increased cost of raw materials.

Even though the actual cost of a GW sprue may only be $2.00, they still have to pay their employees, who have to buy fuel to get to work. Folks, I'm sorry, but our hobby ain't gonna get any cheaper. The $59.99 price for the new starter will be a steal, at the current price of oil. Buy them while you can, because they won't get any cheaper.

wow and thats despite the fact that petrol (gasoline) prices in the US being absurdly low? I imagine that those sort of costs shouldn't affect your GW prices too much as normally they're a sort of correlation with UK prices (where our petrol is already much more expensive than your own).
