ok then, you pay twice as much for only needing half the rules.

you use a rules set that has been designed to 'attempt' to fit in with two very different systems

try explaining to fantasy playerrs why 2 army books aren't enough, now they need 3.

scrabbling about in various different books to make sure you have not remembered the wrong set of additional rules.

the list goes on. Vendile is not going over the top. This format, if true, is flawed. more so than their normal offerings

Errm ott again. Would you have rather they crammed it into your Chaos Dex, or make two books that are very similar? Seriously it is irrelevent that they have included two rulesets, totally irrelevent.

i'm agreeing with cirative: it seems unlike GW to make a book that would be useful for anything but tourney games. tournaments are a huge part of the gaming aspect and if they were to produce a PAIR of books for chaos, that's just way more money than i would have assumed they would be spending to print both.

but other than that, it sounds really cool...WHFB and 40k in one book ? interesting,...thanks for posting it :]

the old realm of chaos books catered to both fantasy and 40k, and there was a degree of cross-over iirc like giving a fantasy chaos champ a plasma pistol!?!

personally i can't see the point of having a fantasy section in this book if it's about daemon armies as the hoards of chaos book already covers this option. it wouldn't make sense. so we'll probably see it happen

Hmm, last time i asked about plastic Thunderhawks/Valkyries/Drop Pods was not too long ago (like... 2 months max)

Redshirts stalwartly denied it. I highly doubt they will be producing the Thunderhawk at the very least, and drop pod isn't going to come for a long time either.

I will take this and go ask the redshirts again sometime this week / next week

A couple of the guys there have good connections, they nail every rumor bang on.

ok, i think you guys are confused about the book being for both systems.

the BOOK is for both systems, but the RULES are not. differant sections for 40k and fantasy. its impossible, rules wise, for a set to be for both sets. just think about it, they dont even have the same turn setup! the statlines are the only things that could feasibly be the same.

ah! good thinking hairy...good thinking. haha, alas.
and i'm thinkin stitch hasn't said anything because it might be bad for her to ? sometimes i wonder if GW accidently has these secrets leaked and they probably do something drastic, like hire assasins to kill workers who spread them...then again...

Still, the fact that both fantasy and 40k would be in the same book probably means one of two things:

1.) the book will be longer, which means more money for something many people won't use.
2.) the book will be the same length, but that also means that GW put them together because there wasn't enough info in each one to make a full Codex. unless you play Chaos in both fantasy and 40k your wasting some money for half a Codex.

of course we don't even know if this is true or not, I mean after al lthey think theres a plastic Thunderhawk coming, no way!

ok heres the deal GW are considering doing the combined book due to be as big as the apoc book. The pods are a def. and well have been confirmed sadly for a few yrs gw is"having problems with the kit" But I have my connections to the very top of gw and They really are thinking about the combined book going for 55$ US and due out around march-june '08 its because its a hard issue some are on the no way side and most are the go for it it has a divider that looks like it was covered in skin (don'tcha hate me :P) but anyway the puppies are due for a major rehaul and due next year sometime is a new plastic for the IG anyone wanna take a stab? Oh Dark Eldar are 2-3yrs off

lol anyway just got back and the combined book is a no no. fantasy will just have to wait for there chaos dex. as for the valk its a tight tight secret so I have no idea the drop pods are a go for the puppies tho. Thunderhawk is a maybe but would be around 130$ if it did... Its still a steal at the price or would u rather spend 720$

thank you spartan for proving that GW still has some sense.

as for what the guard plastic will be? hmm... storm troopers, ogryns or rough riders - one of the three i would guess.

i am hoping it won't be valhallans as i had always said that they would be the only guard i was prepared to do, and i really shouldn't start another army.

should i krom and mart?

i suppose it could also be a reframing of the cadians or catachans, like all the other kits these days, actually giving you all the options on the frames.
The obvious exception for guard is the Doctrines, as there's just too many of them to fit the appropriate parts onto frames.

i never understand why they didn't do this in the first place.

if it is just re-framing, that would be a real let down imo

Probably like Chaos basic troops. Few new bits, a little change to existing ones... And nothing! lol

actually the Cadian set was (AFAIK) the first set to have more than one option - containing both flamers and grenade launchers, 4 of each in the twenty man box.
