Default Codex: Ruinous Powers / Orbital Assault

Lifted from Librarium Online:

-Rumoured to be oversized; possible even hardback
-Will FULLY describe each of the 4 main Chaos Powers (cults, anyone? ) including their daemonic followers.
-Will cover both WHFB and 40k.
- Includes a stand-alone army list for each game system to use a full army of daemons.
-Roughly a dozen special characters across the 4 major powers, some of which can be used in both game systems.
-NOT compatible with Codex: CSM.
-Some suggest that it will not be tournament legal, but only for games of Apocalypse or pick-up/friendly games.

According to Warseer rumours, next summer might see another new codex, in the form of Codex: Orbital Assault! Apparently, it will focus on high-speed raids and deep-striking in more depth, while adding new rules for each army. There are also several rumoured releases to accompany it, including:
- Plastic drop pods
- Plastic Thunderhawk
- Plastic IG stormtroopers
- Plastic Valkyrie
- Ork Stormboyz

It's rumoured to be presented in a campaign format (a la Eye of Terror/Armageddon) with set protagonists/antagonists.

I'm wondering why they're having 2 separate books for Chaos, the one we have now will basically become Codex: Black Legion and Renegades after this newest one hits the shelf

...Interesting...? The Codex:Ruinous powers, wouldn't that be the same codex as the daemon codex? The orbital assault thing sounds interesting, but I don't think everybody would be ready for another overpriced expansion.

I really dislike these three rumors.

As for "Orbital Assault," I have heard from the Red Shirts themselves that GW is releasing its own drop pod model relatively soon.

Wow, I really hope GW does release its own Droppod models. I would be estactic if they did in fact make the Chaos cult codices. The one glaring fault of the 4th ed. Chaos codex is the generalizing of Daemons. Hopefully this will be remedied in the near future. Thanks for the info, Ion.

No need for such name calling. 'Tis true though, I've heard the same rumour on the DP.

The deamon codex has been stated to be released by WD as they din't have time to get it right, and to be honest I can't blame them for doing a WFB and 40k joint book (they share the same models...).

Plastic thunderhawk... my trousers are tented already. The valkrie s also exciting, I've got a forgeworld version and t looks beautiful.

and if you say Bop, i will bop you!

i really really hope they are not having a dual system book. it slaps of laziness to me.

GW are really trying my patience lately. might have to go and take a look at Warmachine or something.

HERESY! HERETIC I SAY! BURN HIM!

I do agree though, a dual book, with special characters that can cross over between each is absolutely ridiculous and I would burn the book on sight.

Did you read that? o mention of Bop, just White Dwarf

The reference is WD... not sure the issue number but it was one of Jervis's blurbs... in fact drax, we discussed it on Saturday. Tick Tock!

And dual system is lazy, but if that's the case, is it lazy to just use the same models? Of course it is, but no one seems to be bothered by that.

Actually, I personally am. I never liked that Fantasy and 40k had the same daemons.

I'd have to agree with you erus, but why make seperate books if they don't have seperate models?

Yes you misunderstood. The conversation we were talking about, and you also said the exact same thing as I did, about the daemon dex coming in around Jan time. And this was a point made by Jervis in Standard bearer... though he didn't state a specific month.

As a point thogh. It isn't right to do the same models and book. From a business perspective I see why though. It cuts costs.

As for the book, I imagine they will do the fluff about the daemons, which should be the same between both and then offer oth rules formats in the specifications.

In the end, GW will do as they want. But I just hope they don't do it this way, or I may not be returning to serve the Ruinous powers.

Ha ha, you can run but you cant hide Drax!!!

I cant see the problem with the dual Daemon dex, the rules will be treated separately, as will the fluff, just saves you buying two books. The daemons have always been the same models and I see no cross over, as they technically dont cross over. Storm in a tea cup!

great, you have tracked me down as well i see.

the problem is that i would rather GW gave a decent amount of attention to the Daemons for 40k AND gave a decent amount of attention to Daemons in fantasy rather than trying to reduce their workrate and then have the results reflect this.

But why will it be an issue for you?

It'll give you more fluff and info on daemons than you've ever had before.

that was the point of the Liber Chaotica series which leached £30 out of me for GWs pockets. And therein lies the problem. if the majority of the new codex is fluff, then it is money for old rope.
