Dark Angels mini-site update confirms a few things.... - 40K Terra

HQ- Company master comes with Iron Halo
- seems that a chaplin is part of the command squad for Dark Angels...
- Master of the Raven wing on jetbike
- Interigator Chaplin = Terminator Chaplin

Elites - very crowded the following things are elite choices now:

Terminators, Techmarines, Rhinos, Razorbacks, dreadnoughts and scouts.

With Rhinos and Razorbacks as elites, I don't think they'll see much play... I think theyre trying to push toward drop pods...

Troops - May only take tactical squads.

Fast Attack - normal

Heavy support - normal

I dont like the Rhino as elites.....

hmm, I think that all command squads should have a caplain or librarian as standard.

Do let me clarify this. They counts as elites for purposes of deployment, escalation games, etc. But they DO NOT take up an elite FOC slot. I freaked when I first saw this too!

I don't like scouts as elites... scouts are even normal marines, going from elites to troops is umm.... DUMB, DUMB, DUMB WHAT WAS GW THINKING!

lol i don't mind the whole scouts thing as much, after all, aren't SW scouts elites as well? then again, SW differs greatly from other SM army set ups :] haha. i'm still kind of confused about the whole rhino thing, whatever it is i'm not the biggest fan of that. rhinos just suck too much XD

The difference with space wolf scouts is that they can take assault weapons and some more CC-oriented stuff (I think, but I'm sure about the assault weapons), and they can come in from reserves from whatever board edge they choose! So they're a little more specialized.

ooh that coming in from any edge is SWEET! but other than that i don't see really much of a big difference, hmm...i mean what other special weapons can wolfie scouts get?
normal ones already get bolters/shotties/bp+ccw for free, potential sniper rifles, an m launcher or HB...that's a pretty good selection i'd say :] haha

Scouts now have the Str. 4 shot gun...possibly why they were made elites...It makes sense fluff-wise...How many new recruits does the oldest chapter have?

I am eagerly awaiting this Codex. It will be the deciding factor in what I do with my next army! I would truly hate for all of that to be elite though! That would hamper my style. I also heard no veteran skills for DA... Is this true?!

Space Wolf Scouts arent new recruits they are Veterans-hence the Elite Status!

Yes, this is also true. I forget all the rules, but they are better than normal scouts and deserve an elites slot. They can take a couple plasma guns/meltaguns/etc I think. Plus they might be able to take a power weapon or two.

Yeah they are a nasty piece of work-specialy with their infiltrate rule (deloying from your table edge eek!)

Why do GW insist on messing around with things,its getting to the stage where no-one actualy deploys anything in the troops stage now (it either deep strikes,infiltrates of has a specila rule that allows it to magicaly appear behind your command squad with the "weapon of uber death-Strength 10,AP1, Assault 12, Large blast, twin linked")

o yea i have that weapon on MY scouts.....

ive actually seen the DA codex! its tight! the store manager and i are tight so he let me have a look at it. its really awsome. they also have a section on successor chapters, and they added a couple of em. some paint jobs of those are really cool.
also, the deathwing terminators squads CAN HAVE APOTHECARIES!!! TERMINATOR APOTHACARIES!!! im not sure if this is termy command squads or all deathwings, but thats so awsome. they dont have a model for it but the one converted thats in the codex is tight.

That will certainly alleviate a little bit of the small squad size problem.

I hope they give Azreal, Ezekiel, and Asmodai the option of takeing Terminator armour so they can actually go with the Deathwing and not be totally out of place, like Marneus Calgar can do. Because unless they're changing it, all the senior members are supposed to be part of the Deathwing, so it makes sense for them to be able to take Deathwing equipment, i.e. terminator armour.

i have an advanced copy of the codex as well

not only are there termy apothecaries but if you take the motr you can have one on a bike!!!!!!!

they did do away with the veterans skills and all sgts in all units have the equivalent of term honors already hence the extra points already factored in

they did limit the members of the squad that can take melta bombs im not pleased with that...

overall the codex is good and i am looking foreward to playing dark angels as soon as i can finish the army
