Default FFG and GW teaming up! SWEET!

Perhaps this is old news to most of you, but I myeslf just found the following article and was estatic. Fantasy Flight Games is my favorite Gaming company. And they just made a Deal with GW to produce... well you read on and I will stop blabering

Press Release
Quote:
22/February/2008 - Fantasy Flight Games Announcement
Fantasy Flight Games to Exclusively Publish Board Games, Card Games, and Roleplaying Games based on Games Workshop properties.

Roseville, Minnesota (February 22, 2008) – Fantasy Flight Games (“FFG”) and Games Workshop (“GW”) jointly announced today that they have reached an agreement for Fantasy Flight Games to become the exclusive publisher of board games, card games (including collectible card games), and roleplaying games based on Games Workshop’s family of renowned intellectual properties including Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer 40,000. Additionally, the deal will grant FFG the exclusive rights to publish new versions of the classic board and card games titles published by Games Workshop over the last 25 years.

Additionally, a second agreement between the parties will transfer the publication rights and system of the Universal Fighting System CCG, formerly published by Sabertooth Games, to FFG.

“We are just so thrilled to partner with Games Workshop in such an encompassing deal,” said Christian T. Petersen, CEO and founder of FFG. “Not only will we be able to continue the publication of some phenomenal roleplaying, card, and board games currently on the market, but we look forward to creating new games for the popular GW universes!”

"In Fantasy Flight Games, we’ve found a partner who shares our passion for gaming and our dedication to producing the highest quality products,” said Andy Jones, Head of Legal and Licensing for Games Workshop. “e legacy of our board, card, and roleplaying games is in the best possible hands with them, and we are extremely excited about the prospects of seeing some fabulous new games set in our universes as well. ”
I am stoked,
Servo

Fantasy Flight Games... They make amazing board games. Doom the Board game, Starcraft the Board game, Twilight Imperium, Tides of Iron, Dust, etc. etc. If you have never played any of these you must. They all are unique and are a blast to play with your group of friends when you need a break from 40k/WFB.

Check out their Website
Fantasy Flight Games

My two cents,

i dont get it. im guessing it must be cheaper to outsource games than make them 'in house' as they did with BI? seems shame that the dark heresy book came out just as black industries closed down. i wonder what will become of it now

Here you go, lay your fears to rest.

Quote:
FFG will take over the production of Talisman, and plan to produce a new printing and expansions for the 4th edition of this ever-popular classic board game. Further, FFG will continue production and new-product support for the Universal Fighting System CCG, the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay RPG, and the new smash-hit Dark Heresy RPG. More details on FFG’s publication plans for these titles will be provided in the weeks to come. The agreement does not include certain GW titles in which miniatures feature as the predominant component of the game, such as Space Hulk and Blood Bowl.

lol. they've had card games for some time now. the ccg from sabertooth was i think the latest and greatest but there were the combat cards many years ago that were basically just top trumps with 40k pictures

Step straight into the world of the Imperial Inquisition with this adventure anthology for the Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay system

So they're gonna start doing Black Industries stuff? And a board game with pre painted 40k miniatures would be awesome (not as detailed but still would be cool)

Kinda like the D&D stuffs??? That might be cool but then GW would loose all the money for the minis, as More people would just Buy the painted ones and play......Its what happened to the D&D line of metal minis....well Im pretty sure it is!

The Contract specifically says no minis... hence no Space Hulk.

The best thing to come out of this will be continued WFRP and Dark Heresy support... however small.

As for board games... meh... all I need is a few games of Settlers with my friends... that or India Rails.

My only interest in this is that Dark Heresy is continued. I have the game and it is excellent. Been wanting a 40K RPG for a long time and now I have one.

Black Industries went away, but FFG will take over. It isn't a perfect matchup, but at least Black Heresy is slated to continue.

exactly, in fact, as long as I get Purge the Unclean, and Disciples of teh Dark Gods, I'll be fine... the Inquistors Armory would be nice... but I don't need it.

I don't need the armory either, though I am pleased all of the others are supposed to come out pretty much as scheduled, so they say.

It was rumored another print run of the main book was to be done this month; the first run sold out as I understand it, and the collector's edition sold out in something like 6 minutes.

Solid stuff in this book. I can hardly wait for the rest to come out, especially the one that allows Battle Sisters.
