Default Forge World Open Day highlights

Okay ladie and gentlemen.
heres the best of the FW open day.
(please exscuse my crappy photos, they were taken witha photo phone, and are of...reasonably bad quality. but better than nothing.)
the FW open day, held at GW HQ nottingham was to say the least, less than i had expected. I've never been to an open a day at FW before let alone purchased any FW products (there expensive and im a poor student.) so, after chatting to a Shirt at my local GW and him giveing me some cash to get him (and myself) some Red Scorpions stuff off i went.

The Events:
The FW store.
Okay, anyoen whos ever been to a large GW event knows that the que for the FW sales desk, is either REally, Really, REALLY, stupidly long. or a seathing, writheing mass of any shoveing swearing people.
and todya was no less, the que was long, and it took me, pete and Billy (pete is here on Terra and billy is a friend of mine and fellow hobbyist who kindly supplied a ride to and from the event in his wifes VW beetle.) an hour and a half to reach the sales desk:

Me Pete and Billy in the Que, have a look round at the particpation events that went on during the day such as a full scale aeronautica imperialis battle.

When we actually got top the sales desk it was fairly busy and the staff behind the counter were doing the best they could to keep up.
Billy nad pete unfortunately lucked out, and were unable to buy anything, as the desk has sold out of Dreado plasma cannons and for billy, they had not even brought and Landspeeder tempests with them.
I got most of the stuff i wanted for me and anyone who the day before had given me some money and a list. (however now im home i have discovered that FW have missed out two crucial parts from my FW las cannons razorback. dont worry, they'll be getting an angry phone clal bright and early tomorrow.)

the rest of the event, while small was, pretty good.
the participation games lasted most of the time i was there:
[img]http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/5645/image007ew4.jpg[img]

however, some of the best thing there Today for me at least, was the new reaver titan, ready to be pre-ordered!
however.....it carrys a damn hefty pricetag. £550 yes that five hundred and fifty pounds. I had pete ofering to cut me up and sell me for science for the money so he could go and pre-order one there and then. ><
[img]http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7929/image023yf2.jpg[img]
apologies about the image, it was the only way to get the entire titan and get it at a decent quality, i wanted to do it justice. just save the image and flip it round in the viewer if want to view it correctly. and i apologise again for the poor photos.

the Pre-view desk was full of shiny new models, such as the new Deathguard and world eaters conversions kits.
however a few unexpected jems turned up, such as (photos curtosey of petey, i was bsy buying stuff at the time) :

Sgt Culln

Death Guard Sorcuer (bad spelling i know)

Chaplain deradnought

the design staff were on site, talking about the siege of Varaks part 2 and the new imperial armour volume six.
however, i did not have the chance to talk to the design team, so sorry, no infomation there.

that pretty much wraps it up, im sure other people will write better reports about the design team if they attended so check places like the bolter and chainsword, and other various GW sites for details.
im sorry i havent give you a full view of the day, but the decision to do a report on the dya only came to during the event, and so i ahd no time to plan anything.
anyway, i hope that keeps you all happy, and filled in on the day.
once again i apologise for the poor quality of the pictures, its not easy on an old 2 megapixel mobile.

One last thing however, 2 close up pictures of the two displays there were out today,

the anphelion project:

and the siege of varaks:

EDIT:
I cant seem to resize the images in my orignal post, if someone could do that for that would be brilliant.

interesting

I'm surprised that there isn't more raised detailing on the armour panels of the Reaver, all they've added since GD UK 07 is raised detail to the shins, knees and body..

however ot looks as the weapons can be chosen when you buy it, as the reaver in the battle (see the photos) and the reaver on display ahd slightly diffrent weapons sets.
also, if you want to see better pictures check out the B&C forums, or i might just steal the pictures and give kudos to the guy on B&C...dont know quite yet.

nice one captain, thanks for the run down

the price tag on the reaver surprises me - i actually expected it to be higher! considering the Anphelian Base weighs in at £650 the reaver seems a little low (don't tell Forgeworld i said that though!)

as for contacting them about the mistake - prepare for it to take a while - they will have received a lot of orders that day, and they were already behind schedule - krom_stormbrow purchased 3 tarantulas at GDUK '07 and they had the wrong legs - he got the right ones sent through a week or so ago!

also note that if you send them an email, their website states that they won't reply.

yeah, you could well be in for a long wait - one thing you could do is to keep phoning them, email them (even if they don't respond, they will soon get you sorted just to stop them coming in), and asking your store to keep applying pressure. if you are near enough to them you could even turn up at their store!

be polite but persistant though - anyone who has worked in retail will tell you that the angrier the customer, the less inclined the shop assisstant is to rush!

unfortunately its just the nature of the beast, events like these tend to cause a long backlog for them - they are currently trying to recruit new members, but that will still take time.

in future, it may be worthwhile to order it in advance for collection at the event - i didn't do that at GDUK last year - i will this year!

well, it might interest you to know, that the letter i sent monday, made them give me a phone call 10AM tuesday morning. and they've promised to cast me some new bits. however, he left his office phone number and E-mail adress for me to contact him on, his phone is always fsking engaged! and the E-mail...well, the person who took the cal was'nt me and they didnt quite get his E-mail adress properly so i dont know iof the E-nail ive sent has got to the right person ><

looks as if im going to have to write anouther letter at this rate. well, on the plus side, at leats they'll get the damn thing tomorrow, and i actually might get an answer other than 'were sorry, but the person your calling is current on the phone, please call again later' I ****ing have that womans voice right now!

as for the better pictures i promised you, ive been around a few forums and got some of the best, ill post them when i can.
