According to what the guy heard (and he doesn't say something unless he's 99% sure its true), Mr Chambers was told by the Board of Executives something he didn't like so he said that 40K wouldn't be anything without him and if the Executives didn't do what he wanted 40K would be f****d- so they fired him.

(rules-wise this is very likely a good thing!) he'll probably stay on as a black library writer though, in a similar way that graham mcneil has. as for mr/chambers, well, the way the techpriests told me when he left, "it wasn't surprising he got the boot!" cheers!

| Re: gav Thorpe Both Andy Chambers & Gav Thorpe left on amicable terms (according to the GW Glasgow manager, who was down at head office the day after one of the leaving parties), there was no Firing done, it just happened that they both decided to leave GW to work on different projects at a similar time. One of them, i can't remember which, has moved to Mongoose Publishing, who amoung other things, make the Starship Troopers miniature battle game.

| Re: gav Thorpe Well I think it was a time for change at GW any way. I mean fresh meat might actually bring some new and interesting stuff to the Game. I am hoping that maybe some new blood will be able to mix things up and prehaps even get WD back up to the point where I can stand subscribing to it again. I had a subscription that started around issue 80 and I kept it through 160 or so... ever sense then I glance through the pages at my local gaming store and it is just a crap load of advertisements, poorly written articles, and the battle reports are tiny if they are even in there. *Crosses Fingers* I hope against hope, wish against wish, that this will not bite us in the arse. | Re: gav Thorpe the thing is that it isn't fresh blood, it is just those that started at the bottom of the chain at GW and worked up as each head of development has been decapitated. so often it seems that they make the same mistakes as the predecessor as that is just how they have been taught
