Default Lots of Rumors

I have been looking at the FW Trygon, when I stumbled across this little quote on a forum:

Quote:
Hey all,

My friend who works as a supply middleman for the games stores in the area just passed along this bit of info:

Quote Around the Dark Angel release (as early as late FEB) expect to see all plastic devastators -w- plastic hvy weapons. GW wants to further reduce the amount of blisters for stores to carry. Expect to see a release for the DA similiar to the Templars. New metal characters, codex, a special squad or two, acessory sprues to make normal marines to Dark Angels, etc.

Expect the drop pod (yes its not a rumor) to be larger than the FW version, Think of it holding ten marines instead of the FW five. The current plan is to include all the parts in the kit to make it troop friendly, dread friendly, or a weaps platform. Price is not confirmed but due to size of the model and the amount of sprue stuff we are talking about it could easily retail as much as a land raider.

Now that forge world is officially part of their company instead of a side gig, I would not be suprised to see more resin turn to plastic. Combine the improved 3-D mold design software with the acquiring the FW molds, hints of a line of plastic of the larger stuff, (baneblades, trygons, thunderbolts, lightnings etc.) are starting to pop up. I expect GW to continue to play these cards close to the vest. One market advantage they still have is their plastics. Anybody can pump out metal, not everyone can afford to produce the plastic kits that GW does. Note: I wish they used better plastic in some of the kits, but at least it's easy to cut. I can easily imagine them using the big plastic kits in their marketing strategy over the next couple of years.

The baneblade and the trygon
are to be plastic and might be out next year, as they already have the molds courtesy of FW. Codex Apocalypse is "loosely slated" for next summer. This falls into place with the time frame between releases of mini codexes (EoT and Armaggedon). Personally, I love the idea of mini codex. More races get a bump and new stuff instead of waiting 6 years for an individual redux. *Codex Apocalyspe is to have all the rules to make super heavies official and they won't be points based like other models but have a different system for allocating them into armies. This idea is an expanded version of the historical Primarch scenarios back in early 04 that GW put out to stores.* That last part is not confirmed and is speculated. It should also be no suprise that not all FW rules for the models will cleanly transfer over to 4th ed 40k.

I'm definitely interested about the last part regarding the Primarchs, but mostly glad to hear for sure we'll be getting a plastic Trygon

Having Drop Pods costing as much as LRs will certainly get people riled though.

I noticed that 626 mentioned Codex Apocalypse, so I dont know if this is old stuff. The post was made at
Oct 16, 2006, 2:29pm so im guessing its happening this year.

Im particularly interested because im planning to get a Trygon (eventually).

Here is the actual post on "The Tyranid Hive" Forum.

Sweet! Drop pods! Excellent news for my BA. I highly doubt they'll make it cost as much pts. wise, I think that post was refering to the $$$$$ amount. Cagarner, sad to hear about the Custodes, but great to hear about the Tyr-a-thingy. I wonder if this means the possibility of Titans, and thunderhawks transfering over. BUAWAHAHAHAHAH! EPIC IS SLOWLY BLEEDING ITS AWESOME POWER INTO 40K... Now just to sit back and wait for Fulgrim... *twitch*

plastic drop pods are a loooooong time off i'm afraid! (sorry dan! )
don't expect to see any hints of them untill at least the release of codex: blood angles next year... (this is from a reliable source...)

as for the dark angels release; army box is out feb 16th i believe... codex & DA squad boxes within 2-3 weeks after which means either march 1st or 9th.

oh, and the trygon looks fething scary!

cheers!

Hmmm. Plastic Baneblade, Trygon and Drop Pods? It's a great time to be alive.

alas, so am i. what's this about the inquisitor ? anyways...this stuff sounds really cool. honestly. i would never have need of a baneblade but the fact that it will be seen on the tabletop is exciting. same with drop pods...they would be expensive though! 55-60 USD for a drop pod kind of ruined the excitement for me, but you can't have everything right ?

haha

Its the 40K Terra newsletter that will be running eventually. A bit like the Black gobo thingy.

I would look forward to GW having some forgeworld stuff, as at the moment forgeworld postage and packaging cost sucks. £9.00, on top of the £75.00 they already ask, that = £84!!!

Anyways, rant over.. I do think that the Baneblade is a bit too much to release. they should really try and release a Superheavy/Gargantuan model for each army I think. That would make it fair for people like the eldar etc.

I agree with Caganer here. I would hope that GW sees the benefits of allowing each race to have Superheavy/Gargantuan models. I have played in a few mega-battles(12-20 players, combined 40,000+ points), and it's really cool to go up against Superheavies/Gargants/Titans.

hmm... *raises eyebrow*

personally i am very sceptical as to how much of that will happen. ever.

plastic drop pods i can see as being a possibility in say 5-6years time, though they are definately not a priority.

Plastic Baneblade is utter nonsense to be quite frank, there is no way at this point in time that GW would release something like that (quite simply it wouldn't sell enough and would still come in at at least £100). Possibly at some point over twenty years in the future, but not in the near future.

plastic Trygon is also another piece of wishful thinking really, its a nice model and all, but it ain't gonna happen any time soon.

As for this mysterious Codex:Apocalipse(sp?) release for the summer, I am intruged, but its too soon into 4th edition for GW to introduce big shake-ups in the system.

Over the coming years there shall undoubtably be a slow and steady trickle of FW models being made into plastic GW releases - the Piranha was the first remember, so its only a recent development and one that was done to introduce an element which was lacking in the origional Codex:Tau.

I thought the MKII Rhino was the first FW model to be used by GW.

no, the Forge world upgrades for the MkII were simply released at the same time as the GW plastic, it was GW's decision to make the Rhino more Boxy.

codex: apocalypse is a definate... however, for once gw is being very tight-liped about it and have threatened death on any worthless mortal who shoots their mouth off about it! (in other words, this one's staying secret!)

the only thing that's been hinted at, is that this is a rules set for playing huge battles and incorperating super heavies and such...
anyone who's ever played 'floorhammer', this is it 'officially'!

cheers!

got this from the gw uk website. looks as though the DA sprues ARE different to the BT ones - the dA ones contain 5 complete dark angels, just as we speculated earlier.

If they come out with a baneblade,do you think that FW may still sell thier types? I don't think that they can come out with a mdoel as good as the Lucius patten. And would you be able to buy other "baneblade" chasis tanks like the stormblade?or would it be like the land raider and LRC?

ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. EVER.

or certainly not for many, many, many, many years.

Codex:Apocilipse simply sounds like a nice idea to let all the lovely forgeworld models be included in a senseible way, it will probably also alter the way GW runs their larger battles(Mega Battles at Games Days).
However, it probably won't be of much use to most people and i seriously doubt and new models will accompany it - except maybe a couple from ForgeWorld.

In reality, by the sounds of things, Apocilipse is just a way to try and make us buy ForgeWorld stuff.

codex: apocalypse is not just how to play huge battles - that's only the bare hint of what's being promoted! rummors abound about much clearer and "official" rules for flyers among other goodies!
basically, it's going to be along the lines of cities of death - a rules expansion...

cheers!

oh there is a plastic baneblade and far more besides. just wait and see. those big models are going to be what sells apocalypse.

im big fan of big story-based games and play 3000-5000 point games more often than i play small games (not that i play much any more ) and this suppliment is going to be just what i wanted. now combine CoD with Appocalypse and youre in for a great game!

Yeh, I heard that Gaurd were going to get some a plastic Super-Heavy at some point, so this makes sense. If I have the money when its released I'm treating my Eldar to reinforcements!

rumour is eldar get a scorpion, nids get a trygon (which is semi-confirmed) and marines get the big posterior drop pod and/or thunderhawk (not too sure about that one)

quite frankly i think this is more likely to be a matter of internet hype over egging something which is actually a very small developement.
I'm now going to quote from Jervis Johnsons Standard Bearer article fom UK issue 316(US 315?):-
"Like all good things, it is going to take a little while for these techniques to really start to kick in, so don't expect to see a slew of plactic kits being released tomorrow."

Whilst yes, this was an article nearly a year ago, we have certainly seen the difference the new tech has made - Fantasys B.f.S.P. set being a marvilous achievment.

I do expect to see things like Drop pods being made plastic, but not for several years, GW simply has too much much-wanted army updating to do to waste time on that kind of thing.

Personally I won't believe that that type of thing is being released untill I either read about it in WD or on the website, or hear it from one of the Games Developers myself.

i know the drop pods are a ways off... simply put, there will likely be a few new release for codex: apocalypse, but nothing too major as the majority of the studio's time is spent updating the codices...
(don't forget, they're about 2 full years behind schedual!)

cheers!
