5th Edition
Word is that GW has now handed info down to the retail stores confirming that 5th is coming this year (summer or fall). This along with the confirmation of the leaked document originating from GW seems to cinch it up folks. 5th is on the way.

Planetstrike
There is yet more word on Plastic IG Stormtroopers (with both lasgun and shotgun options) coming out with this 40k supplement. We've been hearing of this plastic kit since last year, and here it is again. Some are saying that it may tie into a new IG codex possibly coming on the heels of 5th Edition, but we have no corroborating info on that as of now.

2008 Overview
So far the rumors seem to point to this on the 40k release side:

* Codex Orks
* Codex Daemons
* 5th Edition (order may be switched with Planetstrike)
* Planetstrike
* Possibly another codex (IG, Dark Eldar being the most commonly mentioned as candidates)

Not too keen on 5th, as I'm trying to build an army. Still, it compounds my excuses for not painting just now, so I'll ignore that. Otherwise, it seems interesting.

What's the Planetstrike supplement about?

Extended deepstrike rules, drop legions, et cetera, et cetera.
I believe GW has contracted some sort of "release new rules, more rules, and more expansions" fever.

I think 5th ed is more of a "we messed up two editions in a row, so buy this 'cuz it'll be better," than a real edition.

Don't worry, I'm not buying the rule book for a while... if it comes out this summer (which I hope it doesn't...) I'll ignore it completely for a while as me and my friends who are new to the game will be running a campaign!

I'm really looking forward to 5th!! oh and Planetstrike!

My theory is this now. I reckon Planetstrike will come out with the summer campaign, with a range of new mini's for each army (I'm hoping for that Eldar jetbike we saw at GD for my army) and they will do 5th for October, with a new Space Marine dex (contreversal, but I cant see them bring new rules out without a new Marine dex!)

AAARRRGGHHHHHH

freakin GW cant get it right since the left the 2nd ed format
dont get me wrong ive enjoyed 3rd with them consolidating assaults into one big melee(instead of rolling one by one)
and 4th with the best improvement (to date) on rapid fire

but what are they gonna do now
i just bought the big rulebook(i had the pocket one for a while)
now ive got to dish out $50 for a new edition in 6 months or less

i am now from slightly pised to completely enraged. this is some serious B***S*** i love 4th edition, and i like my armies the way they are now. if they fraggin change my templars to what the blood angles and dark angels are now, a GW employee will be killed for every BS rule they come out with!!!!

I doubt they'd change Black Templars to anything like DA or BA- along with Space Wolves the Templars dont follow the Codex Astartes, whereas the Angels do albeit with variations on it.
