Again, this is a RUMOR. Not fact yet.

- First of all, WH40K V Edition will see the light before summer 2008 (yes you read it right), just after the Codex

aemons.
There's not much in the new edition that is going to be radically changed, the things which will be modified for sure are:

1) rules about vehicles
2) damage chart for vehicles (MAYBE we'll have one only chart for glancing and penetrating hits, with modifiers according to the weapon which scored the hit - note that this is an uncertain rumour)
3) rules about psychic powers
4) small variations on hth combat

the source denied any further explaination.

It has been speculated that the new Starter Box will include SM and Orks (both in plastic).

And THEN?

- Codex: Imperial Guard.
New miniatures are ready, the Codex is still undergoing the brainstorming phase

It is almost certain that the Combat Doctrines will remain in the Codex.
New plastic soldiers with great coats and different heads: we'll have Death Korps of Krieg and Valhallans!!!

Possible new Valkyrie in plastic.
New bits for the Sentinel in order to be able to field all of the four patterns in plastic!
New bits for Rough Riders.

- Dark Eldar.
The entire range is going to be redone with new design.
At the moment they're going to made the first new models!
The rules (according to the source) are NOT going to be much changed, except for some units (the source didn't specify which ones).

- Necrons
We won't see them before the end of 2009!!!
However, the Codex will be redone and will feature new models.
Pariah and Immortals are going to be redone.
Maybe new bipod/vehicle?

- Space Wolves
end 2008 - beginning 2009
The Codex has been planned, but nothing is certain.
MAYBE (uncertain rumour) the SW list will be integrated with the 13th Company's units and rules.

Unfortunately, the Codex:Inquisition is still not in schedule

We won't see it for a veeeeery long time...

I foresaw a v5 rule book coming soon, but not THIS soon. I just bought the hardcover 4th edition book, goddammit. Plus I bought the vehicle dice, so hopefully the glancing/penetrating doesn't make them obsolete.

i know ! some of the armies are still in the age of the dinosaurs ! but these are cool rumors, regardless of their truth..it's exciting to hear about new IG for sure! yeah well sounds to me like they are just gona make a few minor tweeks, and its more about redoing the base game box to ad and push the new orks.so as to sell more boxes.

This is just bollocks. Every time the SM chapter get a major re-do, this rumor crops up. Believe it just like the rumor floating about the New Line let GW out of the LotR contract and GW was lowering costs 15% on everything. Just pure b.s. man, sorry to say.

Also, there is supposed to be an SM 'dex update within 2-3 years to bring SM into line with the new DA/BA style of play, which will come AFTER the SW and DE, but before =][=, which is right after the new SM.

whenever the hell the new rules come out, if they improve the way psychic powers work, and maybe reintroduce the psychic phase, i'll be a happy boy. for far too long this aspect of the 40k universe has been lacking imo.

I agree. I'm modeling a Librarian for the force weapon and fluff only. The powers, for 90% of the games psykers (except Eldar, and certain SM chapters) are just kinda... Eh...

Well...if they are true...all I can say is...I TOLD YOU SO>>>G*D D^<>#D GW!!!!...
this is the usual way of it...they get half way through one edition and screw us over by releasing the next before they have finished with the previous...(my poor pups)...and now I have to wait for a full year to see if I can even use my converted Iron Priest...bastages...

Eh, there's no confirmation other than a minor player site not well noted for rumors who has a shadowy source they won't name. I'd put as much stock into it as I would anything coming out of the Monkey in D.C.

Plus, honestly, GW is just making too much money at this point. If they did 5th edition, common business sense says they stand to loose more than they would gain at this point. I say look for 5th edition once the new mold tech kicks in and plastics flood and the prices lower (4 years, 5 tops)

i disagree. if the sales of mcrag are down that meens the influx of new players is down. GW will make a new box and make a ruls update in a heatbeat cause it will definatly bring in more money than the curent is sales are down. GW cares not about what the curent consumers think cause they know people will just grumble and buy the new stuff along with appealing to more new player. IMO
