Blog Entries: 6 | Okay, i went to my Local GW's Vets night Last night, planned to play 2 games and actually played none. >< But thats beside the point. now anyone whos been keeping up with my blog entrys so far will have noticed im doing a Brand new Imperial Fists army, and when i got talking to some of the Local Vets about my army list, they simply said: Do a Lysander army, terminator nemisis. i simply replyed: 'but that would mean fielding an all shooty termie army, not bad but i like the idea of ahveing a Termie chaplain back up by some Lightning claw wielding assualt termies, but i dont want to have to cart them around for the entire game in a land raider, so no.' he then said: 'but you can assualt after you've deepstriked.' and thats the reason behind all of this, i have played the 4th edition 40K rules since they've comeout, and i dont own a rule book. seriously bad i know, but forgive me. and since i cant find out who's right and whos wrong i was hopeing you people here at 40K terra might shed some light on the matter, after all, if termies can assualt after deestrikeing, they suddenly become alot more attractive to me at least. so, can you assualt directly after Deepstrikeing? your views?

Blog Entries: 9 | I have argued with you about this the guy who told you, Spence is his name people. He is unreliable as he NEVER reads the rules properly he will re-read that section of the rulebook and find that after you have deepstriked you can shoot BUT not assault or move that is what i have been playing since 4th Ed. came out and a lot of other people have as well. |

| The unit cannot move or assault on the turn they arrive with deepstrike. They can shoot but count as having moved (so for terminators this makes no difference).

| when deep strikings; - infantry & jump infantry count as moving so they can only fire rapid fire & assault type weapons unless they have a special rule allowing them fire heavy weapons! (like your termies for example or oblits who have 'slow and purposefull) - vehicles count as having moved over 12" and thus cannot shoot at all!!! (a recent clairification which has helped knock the ass-can speeder lists on the head quite nicely!) - units which deep strike may not assault the turn they deep strike. (IIRC, would that also mean tau battlesuits don't get their assault move - my codex is elsewhere right now!>.<) note that summoned lesser daemons are the only exception to this rule! summoned lesser daemons may assault the turn they are summoned onto the battlefield... cheers!

Blog Entries: 6 | Cool thanks for that clarification stitch, but at the end of the day, i did not intend this to a thread if whats write and wrong, merely a disscution. at the end of the day, i have been happily playing with the 4th edition rules where you could shoot and not assualt and ive got on just fine. it was just....the fact that you could assualt after deepstrikeing would open a whole door on the termie assualt sqds. after all, why would you want to cart them around in LR all day.
