Default Dirge Castors

Yo to you all

So heres my problem. Dirge casters confer fearlessness on any csm unit within 6". well and good. but what happens if a unit is broken and falls back to within 6" of a dirge caster? As the rules state that fearless troops can never be broken does a broken unit that becomes fearless rally?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Cheers

hmmmm... again it's definately one of those 'grey areas' that can be argued either way.
however, personally i would think that if a broken unit gets within range of a dirge caster, then it will become "fearless" and thus automatically regroup at the start of your next movement phase... (the dirge caster may still be destroyed in your enemy's turn of corse!)

i'm also curious if they've changed the wording from "chaos units" to "chaos space marines" as i still have the 1st printing of the 'dex...
if later printings have changed the wording, then it will affect my LatD army i've recently started!

cheers!

i have both the old and more recent printings of the chaos codex and both state chaos units.

Experiment 626: in fact dirge casters are a great (almost overpowered, in a way) addition to LatD armies, which i use a lot in my own army

thanx for the clairification mate

and yes, i slaped the dirge caster onto my defiler so i can make all my mutants fearless!
my dark apostle also has the demagoge ability too! (aren't fanatical zealots so much fun?!!)

cheers!

pleasure to be of service...

and back on topic:
Hairyyahoo: my house rule is as soon as a non fearless unit/creature becomes fearless from whatever means (like a chaplain joining a unit of fleeing marines) it immediately stops falling back and counts as fearless. probably not really legal, though like i said, its a house rule

yeah kinda makes sense to me too but i asked this question a while back in the GW forums (RIP) and the ensuing S***storm left it anything but clear! came out with every shade of grey from near black to off white.

such are the rules that GW writes. they expect us to use RAW, when more often than not RAW isnt even understandable!

again, i think this is one of those 'talk it over with your opponent before the game' issues...

as long as both you and your opponent can agree on how you think it should work, where's the harm?!

cheers!
