Default Force organization slot question.

Ok I understand that each "brood" shows the minimum and maximum that is allowed for each slot. Now my question is does that brood have to be in the same "unit" as long as they meet the minimum amount of models said in the brood? For example, I want to take genestealers as my four troop choices, and I decide to take 12 in each brood. Can I split those up into 8 units of 6 stealers, and have them still count as only four troop slots in the force organization chart? Thanks in advance.

HQ you mean? you are allowed to do that.
the FOC chart goes like this:
2 HQ (1 required)
3 elites
6 troops (2 required)
3 fast attack
3 heavy support

you dont have to fill it all up but you cant go over the # it says, unless of course you are playing apocolypse. in apoc it all goes out the window, you can do whatever you want FOC wise.

with your stealers: if you dont have anything other then stealers as troops, instead of 4 units of 12 you can have 6 units of 8. same # of people, more squads.
dont forget the broodlord has to have a retinue, which can be up to 11 more stealers!

Cool thanks for clearing that up. I was confused with the hq thing because in the rulebook it says 1 hq and 2 troops are required, and 1 hq, 4 troops, 3 elites, 3 fast attack, and 3 heavy support are optional. It's the rulebook that comes with battle of maccrage, but it says the same thing in the new chaos codex and nid codex. Anyway, thanks again. You should see a nid army list up in a bit.

and remember that is the standard FOC you and your friends could change it all you want for your games
we had a game not too long ago where we wanted to emphasize speed so we added more fast attacks and took away heavy support
but that is a special situation
im sure if you and your buddies wanted to make your own FOC with 8 troop choices or 5 heavy support
remember the rules are guideline for the game in tourney situations you can change them for maximum fun with "House Rules"

Yea we probably will change it from time to time. Thanks again for clearing that up. Now I can write my 1500 point nid list.
