shame, ive always been a fan of ws/bs/s/t 5 marines... since i feel this really is what they should be: asmall elite army of superhuman warriors. Though it seems many people dont like the idea, perhaps its just the marine haters

try make your own its more fun... just dont go overboard if you do. i.e: i dont think bolters should be much better than they alrady are, though the marines themselves can afford to be better

Err anyways if you want your own:
i'll start you off by saying, Bolters are assault cannons, and the basic marine is 0-6 and costs a little more than an SM commander points.

just how much stats are we allowed to give away (even piecemeal?) before it's "illegal"?
cause WD is by country (especially now that we canuks have our own) and i REALLY think that it should be reprintable

as far as i know (from other forums) all you cant give away are points values. though dont quote me on that!

to get around this you can just say X trooper is the same cost as a chaos marine - a close combat weapon or somesuch

on the GW forum [which is naturally the most restricted] the things to not include are explicit and clear explanations of certain rules [ie gets hot]

and points costs are not good for posts..those are the GW forums though, soon to be defunct. sigh.

haha EWWW such power! i'm a marines player and even i think that's a little overpowered XD

course, it'd be fun hitting everything on 2+'s haha

i dont think all those 5s are necessarily overpowered if each marine is say 75 points :0 or something like that.

The idea i like is having a small army, perhaps 2 squads a leader and a vehicle. obviously such few models will need better rules and more expensive points be playable.

the movie marines had some WS9's
Movie marines is all the models of the starter set (exactly armed in that way) and a razorback or rhino

ok that really is crazy and, i think, stretching the intent of the background too.

though to be honset, the only way you can really represent movie marines in the game is to also have move greater daemons, movie tyranids, movie s'tan and so on since im sure a 'real' greater daemon would have much better stats than even the FW versions.

well since we are on th subject of over-stat things.
here's something interesting:
through my involvement in 40k, there have been many a young child (alas, poor misunderstanding ones) and even a few wizened veterans who continually insist that "it'd be cool to have a model and stats for th emperor, GW should make one!"
i have to say: cool to have it? yes. cool to have it for 40k? no
It would not be cool to have a character with 5 attacks, dual 2+ saves, and stat 10 on everything else
that is "fearless", chooses to pass or fail any test no matter what
auto passes psychic tests
hits and wounds on 2+s, and rerolls for both allowed
and throws around some S10 AP1 "Soul Destruction" pyschic small blast templates for a psychic power while never failing the test and never "perils"
and a bunch of other special rules.

i stand vehemently against things like primarchs getting stats

similarly i think it would be better for fluff if c'tan and greater daemons (including the avatar) were left out of the game. though i do understand why gamers would want to use such uber powerful things.

considering that saguinius snapped a bloodthirsters spine on his knee! id say that the primarchs are quite powerful and i dread the day GW makes rules for them.

ive heard fould rumours that wd spain has done something like that.

well, if true then WD spain has serious issues, and i have issues with them !!! *anger*
however, greater daemons in th game sense should not be left out as things like Ghargatuloth are "greater greater daemons" and would not be represented in game terms.

Greater Daemons in 40k can be considered as "lesser greater daemons"
C'tan is right out of the question, should be GONE!
