Default Rapid Fire?

Kinda a noob Question but i was rereading the rules on rapid fire and as everyone knows they state a model can fire twice up to 12 inchs but can't assualt or once up to max range if remaining stationary.

does that mean space marines can move up to 6 inchs and shoot twice or am i just confused?

nope you are correct!

If you stay staionary you can shoot once at max range (24" for most, but 30" for Tau) OR you can shoot twice at 12" (reguardless of Who you are all 'double tapping as it is called is done at 12" range)

If you move you can Shoot twice with a 12" range and not assault OR you can move, not shoot anything, and then assualt your choice.

Yeah don't worry about that my friend, I just started playing again after a 2 year absence from the game and my group that I just started playing with wasn't using the Rapid Fire rules correctly, they didn't know about the Instant Death rule, how ordinance works, etc. etc. This is a big complicated game and if you don't play in the tournament scene then you don't learn the rules to a 'T'. The most important thing to do is have fun no matter what rules you are playing with or how badly the dice gods are being to you. Just have fun!

Just when you feel that you are very comfortable with all of the rules and games start to move quick and smooth, a new edition comes out. I try and make sure that I know the rules of the game as best I can, so it makes it easier when creating an army list you can utilize your specialized rules from your codex.

a friend of mine plays Necrons and he couldn't figure out how my orks kept overrunning him so fast. I'm sure he'll be happy that he can now attempt to move his forces around and still blast away at my boyz!

Right, I think you can fire a pistol twice and still assault, but I am not sure.

Not to my knowledge, firing a pistol twice kills assault.

in fact firing a pistol has no effect when you assualt, as it is added into the assualt phase.

This is how I've been playing too, lemme grab the book.........

Okay, rule book says you can remain stationary and fire twice with a pistol. If you do this, you can't assault. Otherwise you can move and shoot once up to 12" and still assault.

p29

At least that's how I understand it.

J is correct. You can shoot once and still assault, or if you remained stationary you can shoot twice, but loose the ability to assault. By the Way J that is an awsome avitar pic!
