| I've got a question I thought you guy might be able to shed some light on. I've owned a Dark Angels, Deathwing, & Ravenwing army for years, and have recently pulled them out at dusted them off for some new games. While putting together a Ravenwing army list, I noticed that the new rules allow for Ravenwing Bike Squadrons to include a Land Speeder. I was inclined to take a Land Speeder, but I immediately started thinking about the problems this will cause with shooting attack that this unit receives. The base rules do not cover allocating shooting attack to mixed infantry/vehicle units. The old rules didn't either, but has special rules for these type units where they occurred (Ork Big Guns units come to mind). What should be done with shooting attacks against this unit (and what rules do you use to justify it)? How are shooting attacks allocated? What is to keep a ravenwing player from allocating the heavy shots that are meant for vehicles to the land speeder (who might get an Invulnerable Save if they moved far enough)? What's to keep the ravenwing player from taking shots from lower strength weapons on the vehicle instead of the bikes? How do you handle weapons that bike might get saves against from their Armor save, that could damage the land speeder (which doesn't get saves)? How does the inclusion of a vehicle affect the Target Priority rule? Can a play shoot at a ravenwing with a land speeder that is further away than another bike unit because of the included vehicle? Would the inclusion of the land speeder in the bike unit keep an opponent from shooting a (complete) vehicle further away without taking a Target Priority roll? GW has made extensive attempts to 'simplify' the game. Then they added this back in without any rules to govern it (and the old rules were kinda crap - which I think is the reason they got rid of it in the first place). Has GW just made another 'goof' that the players have to figure out? I plan on posting to other forums as well for this question. StoneFoxx

| High Lord of Terra ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First off, welcome to the Form. You should post in the intro page so we can learn a little bit more about you. As for your question this is how my group has always handled this. The inclusion of the Land speeder in the units is to reduce the amount of FOC slots that you are using up. Basically it allows you to field Multiple Landspeeders and bikes while still leaving slots open for other things in your army. How you handle shooting at it is you either have to choose the Vehicle or the bike squad. Think of it like a troop that takes a landraider transport. They move forward and disembark. Technically the landraider is part of the squad, but you get to choose to shoot at either the squad or the transport. We use the same rules in this instance. That is my two cents, Servo |

| I got an answer on another website answering this question. I hate to admit it, but it come down to me not being aware of my codex as much as I'd thought. The Attack Bike & Land Speeder are puchased with the unit and act as separate units from deployment on. I hadn't caught this portion of the codex. My fault. StoneFoxx

the land speeder however as pointed out is always a seperate target from the bike unit it was bought with... the really cool thing with the combat squads rule and how ravenwing attack squads are built, is that you can effectively get 4 seperate units for only 1 FOC slot! cheers!
